FLUX by image-maker Danny Evans.

If you missed the exhibition last month, you missed out. Flux was a unique exhibition that explored the connection between fashion, photography, film, and technology. The inspiration for the project started with 14 outfits initially commissioned for Arthouse Jersey by local and international fashion designers. When Danny saw these pieces, he knew he had to create his own unique vision of them, along with his top make-up artist Sophie Cubbage and star models Grace, Eleyshir and Toni.

The garments arriving at Danny’s studio promoted a year-long process of photographing, filming and 3D scanning them from every angle. Danny then brought all of the assets together and then “continuously dissected, re-edited and manipulated the images to re-visualise each piece in a new form”. Danny evolved each image in its own direction, based on the underlying fashion piece's textures, colours and shapes. The resulting body of work took the form of 14 large-format prints, a video installation and AR (augmented reality), accessed via QR code as his Capital House xhibition. He tells us “This project is not over yet, and more visuals will be released over this coming year”.

Danny’s love of fashion and technology shone through at the show, as he tells us; “Fashion and photography have always been linked. However, technology changes what is possible on a daily basis. Designers and brands are now releasing one-off digital collections you can wear on social media through augmented reality. As a result, digital Fashion generates 97% fewer co2 emissions than the production of a physical garment. Flux is an attempt to explore the concept of sustainability further. As Fashion and image-making continue to inform and shape each other through the digital realm. Flux is a space to reflect and inspire how Fashion will be consumed and viewed in the digital age”.
