Operational Advantage Limitless Accessibility

A smart robotic wearable suit that helps create safer workplaces.

Sony has revealed a highly customisable accessibility controller for players with disabilities.

German Bionic, a robotics firm and the world’s first company to deliver connected exoskeletons for the workplace, showcased the sixth generation of its exoskeleton development with the Apogee. The Apogee is a strikingly designed next-generation smart robotic wearable tool that’s AI-supported and built for long-term use at the workplace. It provides support during lifting and walking, for up to 30kg when handling heavy loads.

The Apogee is best utilised in tasks involving lifting, unloading, static holds and walking, resulting in added energy and relief to its wearers.

Designed to be lighter and more comfortable than its predecessors, the Apogee broadens the areas of its application in the workplace and protects the health and wellbeing of workers by providing additional tools to add relief, support and safety to frequent, labour-intensive tasks.

The device works by being attached onto the back and thighs and is easy to use and unobtrusive, while allowing for no disruption to natural movements or workflows.

The exoskeleton suits are fully connected and provide users and businesses access to real-time data in order to aid in safety management and further optimise functional capabilities. Businesses can monitor device usage and safety practices through German Bionic’s IO insight platform.

The Apogee can also be customised with accessories tailored to cater to a specific team’s requirements. ✤

With the aim of making the PlayStation 5 an accessible platform to everyone, Sony unveiled the much-awaited adaptable controller code-named Project Leonardo for gamers with limited motor control.

It is Sony’s first foray into accessible gaming equipment and has been developed with key contributions from accessibility experts, community members and game developers.

Project Leonardo is a highly customisable controller kit that works ‘out of the box’ to help players with disabilities play games more easily, comfortably and for longer periods.

Accessibility experts and charities such as AbleGamers, Special Effect and Stack Up, that are dedicated towards inclusion and support of gamers with disabilities, were consulted in the design process of this highly configurable controller. It works in tandem with many third-party accessibility accessories and integrates with the PS5 console to open up new ways of gaming.

Project Leonardo’s design choices address common challenges faced by many players with limited motor control, including difficulty holding a controller for long periods, accurately pressing small clusters of buttons or triggers or positioning thumbs and fingers optimally on a standard controller.

The controller includes a robust kit of swappable components, including a variety of analogue stick caps and buttons in different shapes and sizes. Players can use these components to craft a wide array of control layouts to suit their preference. These components allow players to find a configuration that works best for their strength, range of motion and specific physical needs. ✤

A Walk In The Park Double Vision

An AI-powered intelligent baby stroller offers support to new parents.

Lenovo has launched Yoga Book 9i, an impressive, feature-packed dual-screen OLED laptop.

GlüxKind Ella provides advanced safety and convenience features. With safety being one of the stroller’s main focuses, there is a selfdriving function which only works when a child isn’t on board. In situations when a crying baby needs calming or a toddler wants to walk for a bit, parents can activate Ella’s intelligent hands-free strolling and focus their attention on their child. This function blends safety, comfort and convenience and ensures babies’ and parents’ well-being.

The smart baby stroller is powered with a dual-motor system that allows parents and caregivers alike an effortless walk regardless of terrain – be it uphill or downhill thanks to an intelligent adaptive braking system.

Glüxkind Ella offers additional support, whether on-the-go or at home, with baby soothing features such as Rock-My-Baby mode – an automatic rocking function. A built-in white noise playback helps to relax and soothe the infant by creating a comfortable womb-like environment that calms them.

With the help of the companion app, parents can check on their baby when they are not accompanying them by using the FindMy-Baby feature, which shows the stroller’s exact location. Additionally, Ella continuously monitors the surroundings and alerts parents of potential dangers such as proximity of cars, bikes and scooters. ✤
