MTETO NYATI AND ALTRON HONOURED AT SAPSA 2020

Leading listed technology group Altron has been recognised as the best digital industry entity in the country for the 2019/2020 season. The accolade was granted by the SA Professional Services Awards sponsored by Sanlam and W. Consulting.

Mteto Nyati, the Group CEO, was also recognised with a Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in the field of Management.

In the recent past, Altron has grown by double digits annually. The Group’s growth is not from acquisitions but rather organically, through the kind of people they have and the offerings they have put out into the market. The company’s contribution to the community includes taking unemployed graduates, preparing them for great work and partnering with OEM’s like Microsoft. Their social impact includes partnering with the Department of Education in Gauteng to roll out smart boards.

“The Group ranks highly in customer service, obtaining the services of an external firm which seeks feedback from clients,” the judges noted. “The Group was ranked above the global benchmark in March 2019. In the industry recognition criteria for this Award, the judges also took note that Altron received the Da Vinci TT100 Award for innovation.”

Mteto Nyati has had a long and stellar career dating back to representing South Africa as a Grade 12 learner internationally in a science competition. Amongst his career achievements is the role he played in turning around Microsoft within a short space of time. His work in re-positioning the Altron from a company that was viewed differently and perceived not to listen to a re-energised entity was great. Furthermore, he has released a book called “Betting on a Darkie” documenting valuable perspectives around black excellence acting as an inspiration and conduit for a pipeline of a critical mass of black corporate leaders.

“Mteto has received a lot of accolades from peers and from industry including taking part in the Yale World Fellows Programme, receiving the ICT Personality of the Year Award as well as the BMF Manager of the Year. He is fully deserving of a further feather in his cap in this SAPSA Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Management,” the judges said.
