NEXIA SAB&T WINS ACCOUNTING FIRM OF THE YEAR AWARD 2020

Accounting, auditing and consulting firm Nexia SAB&T has been recognised as the best accounting practice in the country for the 2019/2020 season. The accolade was have a strong nominee in Fazel Sulaman. He views his position as COO as a huge leap and he wakes up daily thinking about the 400 people directly affected by his actions. The judges further liked that Fazel ranks respect as a critical value in the workplace regardless of position held. His management style is diplomatic but says things as they are when the need to be direct arise. We note his role as an alternate committee member at the SA Auditing Profession Trust Initiative.” Janette Minnaar, the chair of the adjudication panel explained how the winners were determined. “Individuals were judged based on a host of attributes including demonstration of leadership skills, changing of paradigms and innovation within the bounds of available resources. We also conferred a number of Lifetime Achievement Awards to deserving recipients who had served their professions faithfully for many years,” said Minnaar. The firm awards were based on the following criteria – business growth, customer service, technical excellence, contribution to the community, contribution to the profession,

granted by the SA Professional Services Awards sponsored by Sanlam and W. Consulting.

Fazel Sulaman, a partner based at the Centurion office, was one of the finalists for the Professional of the Year Award in the Commerce Law and Management Category.

“Nexia SAB&T has consistently performed well in this category having the judges remarked. “They once again

won it twice in the last two ceremonies,” transformation record and commitment to ethics and professionalism. The criteria were not equally weighted, a strong showing in one category was sufficient to put the firm above the rest.

Further, Nexia SAB&T scores highly for initiatives they have engaged in during the period under review, notably the launching of a Foundation to bedrock their support for the Reach for a Dream Foundation and their ground-breaking Herstory campaign that honours the professional woman.”
