Welcome to Arrival Yachts

Arrival Yachts is rapidly establishing itself as one of the most sought-after and successful yacht brokerages in Mallorca, if not spain. this comes as little surprise when you consider the company’s recent sales performance which defies present global economic uncertainty and leaves rival brokers in the shade. specializing in the competitive 20m to 40m motoryacht sector, Arrival Yachts’ enviable portfolio of previously owned yachts continues to grow as owners make a beeline for a boutique agency that offers a premium service and, most importantly, delivers results.

a

rrival Yachts’ Founder and Managing Director, Nigel Wales, comes from a strong marine background. His family was a pioneer in the leisure marine insurance market whilst Nigel grew up sailing and racing yachts in the UK. Before cutting his teeth with a number of leading European brokerage houses, Nigel gained an honours degree in Naval Architecture which gives him a real edge in terms of his understanding of yacht design and performance. This technical knowledge, coupled with broad experience and natural people skills, helped Nigel to carve out a distinguished career as a leading yacht broker. By way of natural progression Nigel set up his own yacht agency, Arrival Yachts, in 2008. A well-liked and respected member of the leisure marine industry, clients old and new continue to entrust him with their yachts and their aspirations.

no substitute for knowledge Arrival Yachts is headquartered in Mallorca’s prestigious Puerto Portals. This makes logistical sense as many of its listings are lying in the principal marinas in the southwest corner of the Island. However, the Company’s focus is rapidly expanding as its clients are highly mobile and the internet has created a global forum for connecting boats to buyers. Arrival Yachts works on the theory that there is a customer out there somewhere for every yacht - it just takes time, effort and expertise to find them. To this end, the Company has invested heavily in back-office technology giving rise to a comprehensive database of yachts, owners, buyers and brokers. Each part of the chain is communicated with on a regular basis to ensure that Arrival Yachts has all the latest information and a real feel for the market at any one time.

There truly is no substitute for knowledge in this competitive and elite field. Yacht brokerage is not like selling other assets, you really have to know how each vessel performs, the cost of ownership and accurate market values in order to credibly advise a customer. Yachts are major investments as well as emotive decisions and clients can comfortably rely on Arrival Yachts’ expertise to guide them through the entire purchaseowner-sale lifecycle.

good brokers are good listeners Arrival Yachts works on the premise that good brokers are good listeners and this attribute is essential for client understanding. This quality is combined with professional know-how and market knowledge to give Arrival Yachts the recipe for successful negotiations. This isn’t to say that the role of an intermediary is without its stresses. Brokerage calls for powerful persuasion and

delicate diplomacy alongside astute commercial acumen – throw in cultural or linguistic variations and it certainly becomes challenging. Arrival Yachts is able to keep its focus on the deal, attending to the detail, whilst at the same time managing the points of difference.

Customer for life Buyers come in all shapes and sizes. Some are highly experienced yachtsmen who know exactly what they want and simply use Arrival Yachts’ expertise and contacts to find the best deal. Others may be new to the lifestyle and need advice selecting a yacht that suits their specific needs, aspirations and budget. Regardless of their knowledge, all can appreciate certain values that form the core of the Arrival Yachts offering: • straightforward communication • professional advice • attention to detail • efficient administration • strong negotiation • great service that continues well beyond the signing It generally follows that once Arrival Yachts has earned the trust of a customer, they become a customer for life and invariably call in on a regular basis for advice on everything from berths (Arrival Yachts has a dedicated berth brokerage in the shape of Prime Moorings) to meteorological forecasting.

Meanwhile, owners seeking to sell come to Arrival Yachts for its proficiency in marketing yachts and then managing the whole sales transaction. Marketing is a lot more involved than simply producing a listing for a website; it involves a full assessment of the yacht as well as determining where to position it in the marketplace. Advertising and presentation are important, but so is working the network of contacts and brokers. Arrival Yachts prides itself on being one of the most diligent and proactive marketeers in the business and the evidence is in the growing number of owners who place their yachts with the Company.

anadian billionaire, Peter Munk, spent a quarter of a century yacht chartering and fantasising on-deck about his pipedream – a large, protected, deep water port ideal for the burgeoning superyacht clientele in an accessible European destination with a collaborative government. He believed that this ideal did not exist and it would remain just that, a fantasy, until of course he fell over Montenegro. As Founder and Chairman of Barrick Gold, the largest gold mining corporation in the world, ‘Midas’ Munk is not without his black book of contacts and, in 2003, he found

himself circling the deep flooded river canyon of the Bay of Kotor in a government helicopter. As the setting for Tivat naval base, former home of the Yugoslav navy, the mountainenclosed harbour had been hidden from view for decades, the subject of a 30 mile no-fly zone and poorly portrayed on foreign nautical charts. Munk was captivated - “I absolutely flipped, I dropped my knickers! I’d never seen anywhere as beautiful in my life!” - and his neurons went into overdrive as he planned his perfect port. Munk swiftly arranged an audience with the then Montenegrin Prime Minister, Milo

Dukanovic, and discovered that some military assets – including the naval base at Tivat – were in line for privatisation. Munk flew in confidant, George Nicholson, President of Camper & Nicholsons, for an educated opinion. Even though it was a bleak rainy day and he was confronted with rusting navy ships and half-submerged submarines, Nicholson said, “This bay is like St Tropez in the forties. You must buy it.” So with the help of Lord Jacob and son Nathaniel Rothschild, Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska, founder of LVMH Bernard Arnault, Hungarian entrepreneur Sandor Demjan and son Anthony Munk, he

did just that. The fantasy was on the way to becoming fact. Almost identical in size to Northern Ireland, Montenegro may be a diminutive state (and one of the world’s newest having gained independence from Union of Serbia & Montenegro only in June 2006) but what it lacks in size it makes up for in spectacular natural beauty. The country’s black mountains (from whence the name Montenegro derives) provide a craggy backdrop to a ribbon of coastal towns on a sweep of sandy beaches and hidden coves. Its incredible 300km Adriatic coastline washed by glassy water

ranks amongst the most compelling cruising destinations in the world and is the perfect stop-off en route from Corfu in the south to Croatia and Venice to the north. Described by poet Byron as “the most beautiful contact between earth and sea”, the Bay of Kotor is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and often referred to as Europe’s southernmost fjord. If it wasn’t for the Mediterranean palms and warm sunshine, the dramatic cliffs could easily fool one into thinking it was indeed Norway. The deep water, most notably at Tivat, is well-used to providing a safe haven for large vessels in its former guise as a naval

base and is ideal for Porto Montenegro’s new superyacht patrons. In Munk’s own words, “There’s no storm that can interfere with a yacht in here.” Progress at Porto Montenegro has been swift and impressive. In June 2009, 85 of the planned 630 berths opened triumphantly to the gathered press, each with a boat proudly anchored in place. Just over a year later there are now 185 in use. When complete, 130 of the 630 berths will be able to accommodate boats over 30 metres (approx 100ft) whilst across the Bay leading superyacht refit operator, CompositeWorks with origins in La

Ciotat France, will provide much appeal for winterising boats. However, to be the next Monte Carlo it takes more than a few jetties, albeit Martin Lane Fox-designed Ardia Grigio stone jetties adorned with mature Spanish palm trees and water fountains made from olive grinders imported from Venezuela. Fear not, Munk has the retail, residential and leisure facilities to compete including a show stopping 64 metre lido pool. Suspended over the marina and designed by contemporary Londonbased architect, Richard Hywel Evans, this masterpiece offers incredible Bay views. Marina Manager, Tony Browne, is

is one of the most ambitious and inspiring projects an architect could ever wish to work on. The opportunity to design from scratch a village combining the sophistication of a superyacht destination with the picturesque vernacular of Montenegrin architecture, while meeting the needs of a permanent 21st century community is a once in a lifetime experience.” Styled in low-rise local vernacular, the village has winding asymmetrical streets, hidden piazzas, tree-lined promenades and market squares thronging with typical al-fresco café culture. Locally quarried stone façades sit alongside subtly washed rendering topped with natural terracotta and clay roof tiles. Each of the irregular arrangement of townhouses, apartments, penthouses and duplexes has a balcony, garden or roof terrace with a blank canvas, modern interior ready for custom -built kitchens and a personal touch. determined for Porto Montenegro’s landbased services to match the standards that owners and guests would expect to receive onboard their plush yachts. Along its kilometre of west-facing coastline, Porto Montenegro is building a waterfront promenade flanked by hotels, bars, pavement cafés and authentic restaurants, shopping areas, a fresh produce market, yacht club and sports complex, Spa, casino, art gallery, nautical museum, bilingual IB school operated by London’s Knightsbridge Schools International and some incredible premium residences. The design savvy behind this Montenegrin village, ReardonSmith Architects, said “This

views across the Bay of Kotor and its rugged mountain backdrop. The inaugural residential complex dubbed ‘Teuta’ received its first homeowners in June 2010 having sold out all 29 units within a few months of invitation-only launch in April 2009. ‘Ozana’ with 23 one to three bedroom waterfront residences and ‘Zeta’ with 22 studio though to two bedroom apartments are both in the throes of construction and selling equally as well – largely due to highly competitive pricing and a first pick of hugely discounted berth licenses. All residential properties have parking, concierge and use of a communal swimming pool and gymnasium

within ‘Ozana’. Owners receive a secure freehold title and there is no capital gains tax on resale or transfer of the asset. The Porto Montenegro effect will also be felt outside its perimeter in the shape of a jointly-owned 18-hole golf course which supplements a whole raft of sporting activities available within the Bay of Kotor from tennis to hiking and windsurfing. Meanwhile, for nonwater based arrivals, accessibility is assured by three international airports within 80km including nearby Tivat at just 7km serving various key European cities from London to Rome, Paris to Frankfurt, across the entire summer. It’s not just the amenities that make Porto Montenegro attractive; it also has immense fiscal and financial appeal. Although the recipient of official EU candidate status in December 2010, and an adopter of the euro as its currency, Montenegro remains outside of EU tax and import regulations. The marina offers on-site tax- and duty-free fuelling which is a bonus that runs into thousands of euros for the largest superyachts. The Government has also implemented yacht friendly laws such as a special 7% VAT rate on marine-related goods and services to illustrate its desire to promote the growth of nautical tourism in Montenegro. The knock-on effect for the Montenegrin community should never be underestimated. Committed to realising a new Montenegro, Munk and his team are in for the long haul to create a lasting, sustainable nautical industry which generates jobs, Government revenues and foreign investment opportunities. Former Mayor of Tivat, Dragan Kankaras, said, “The presence of Porto Montenegro has been beneficial to our whole town, from investments in local infrastructure-related projects to a wide range of community-based scholarships and workshops.” Indeed Munk has been busy. He has introduced The Peter Munk Scholar Program which offers financial support to gifted undergraduate students, purchased medical equipment for Tivat Health Centre, upgraded Tivat Music School, installed free wireless internet for the entire town of Tivat, offered free English for Tourism language courses as well as various Canada- and Montenegro-based workshops in tourism, hotel management and investment for local undergraduates. So, is all of this enough for Porto Montenegro to steal Monte Carlo’s crown? Munk certainly hopes so. He feels that he has hit on the perfect combination of the right place, the right time and, in his words, “people with yachts will always need somewhere to keep them” – and what better place than the most beautiful contact between earth and sea…

Ruea Yachts Brings Eastern Promise to Superyacht Market REPORT sArAh DrAne

W ith the world’s superyacht fleet now numbering ,000, and growing, there’s clearly no shortage of wealth in the upper echelons of society. intriguingly, however, there is now a shortage of uncrowded waters and virgin scenery.

M

any vessels make the ‘milk run’ between the Mediterranean in the summer and the Caribbean in the winter and these waters are now superyacht saturated. This is paving the way for aspiring cruising destinations to reveal themselves to the boating fraternity and for Asia in particular, the future is now very bright. Gareth Twist, Managing Director of Thailand-based Yacht Solutions and its newly established construction arm, Ruea Yachts, has this to say, “Asia is firmly establishing itself as a world-class yachting location and a superyacht can operate here year-round as the area is so huge and the climate so amenable. Reaching from the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean across to Hawaii in the Pacific and from Australia up to the Chinese coastline, this region promises fewer people and some truly spectacular landscapes. Meanwhile professional shore side support is improving significantly such that more superyachts are basing themselves in Asia permanently, or at least returning year-on-year.” Gareth continues, “The Asian yachting scene is developing quickly and there are now plenty of Asian superyacht owners. The next five years will see huge growth in the market promising for a very exciting time.

Although Ruea Yachts is marketed heavily in Europe, there is also plenty of ‘local’ enthusiasm. We recently met with a group of Chinese who are interested in buying yachts in the 75 to 80 metre range and they have the money to spend on them. These investors are drawn to the fact that Ruea Yachts combines cutting edge European marine technology and design with Thailand’s greatly skilled craftsmen. A highly cost effective build is the result and we could come in 40% more affordable than shipyards in Europe.” After many years delivering and chartering yachts in Asia, Gareth settled in Phuket when he arrived on a yacht he delivered from Hong Kong. He then started managing numerous yachts and offering shore side assistance. A gap in the market was spotted and Yacht Solutions was established as a service company with the help of brother Simon. Following a decade of evolution the Company now has three distinct divisions – yacht agency, refit and finally superyacht new builds under the moniker of Ruea Yachts. The yacht agency component is essentially a concierge service provided from Phuket for yachts of all sizes in Thailand. From refuelling and docking logistics to obscure requests for Häagen-Dazs in the wee small

hours, Captains can be assured that someone in the office can help, or one of their extensive contacts can. Yacht Solutions also forms part of an association of agencies called SuperyachtGLOBAL which allows the Company to take advantage of a worldwide network of services. Whilst yacht agency was a natural progression from a yacht delivery, refit was a natural progression from yacht agency. With refits becoming such a large part of the work Yacht Solutions was undertaking on incoming vessels, Gareth decided to give it more attention and make refits a main business component. Thailand is the ideal place for refits as it offers

the highest standard of quality at a very competitive price due to low labour costs. Gareth continues, “Initially we were handling 40ft to 60ft yachts but now most of our work comes from 100ft plus yachts. This side of the business kicked up a gear in 2007 when we were contracted to transform a 1967 60 metre British survey vessel called MY Fox into a sleek, white superyacht complete with six metre swimming pool and eight seat cinema. For this we had to set up operations in Bangkok as the maximum size we could haul out of the water in Phuket was 45 metres. We found a family-run shipyard in Samut Sakhon, some 45 minutes southwest of Bangkok, which had been building commercial vessels for about

30 years and at Lloyd’s class for the last five or six. Our top contractors now work alongside the best local craftsmen and the shipyard is constantly being upgraded – we’ve recently been awarded ISO 9001.” With a shipshape shipyard at its disposal, the next natural progression for Yacht Solutions was from refits to bespoke new builds under the brand name of Ruea Yachts. Gareth explains, “In this economic climate wealthy people are making smart decisions by being frugal with their finances and we have a formula that captures the moment. By designing in the west but crafting in the east, a Ruea Yacht delivers considerable savings over a European-built equivalent without compromising on quality. Our target

rueA YAchts

buyer has an open mind, is adventurous and prepared to trust a new shipyard – in return we’ll deliver them an excellent and innovative superyacht.” With an eye on the 60 metre to 85 metre market, Ruea Yachts has partnered with fine marine pedigree in the shape of award-winning naval architecture and design company, BMT Nigel Gee, and yacht interior design and styling experts, Design Unlimited. Both bring unparalleled European standards to the table and ensure that Ruea Yachts is setting the benchmark for the superyacht build industry in Asia. Add a skilled shipyard team of 120 professionals and at least 100 subcontractors at any one time and this embryonic business is clearly a force for the future, a genuine alternative choice for both Asian and European buyers looking for an economical product. The first design from the Ruea Yachts drawing board is a luxury 60 metre vessel created with tropical cruising

in mind. BMT Nigel Gee and Design Unlimited have incorporated extensive covered outside space offering welcome shade and given her the capacity to cover large distances between refuellings. At a cruising speed of 12 knots, the 60 metre has a range of almost 5,000 nautical miles, but can achieve 16 knots if required. Based on a proven 60m displacement steel hull combined with an aluminium superstructure, the yacht is Lloyd’s Certified and built to the MCA Large Yacht Code LY2 with a gross tonnage of 1,240. Accommodating the proprietor plus ten guests, Ruea Yachts’ 60 metre has a total of six decks with the upper completely dedicated to the owner. Here we find a forward-looking stateroom and aft-facing private saloon opening onto an open deck with decadent Jacuzzi, meanwhile an ensuite bathroom, two lobbies and a sauna are fashioned in between. Of the five double guest suites, one has a balcony, whilst the forward part of the lower deck accommodates 14 crew in seven cabins alongside a crew mess and galley. The Captain has his quarters, an office and a cabin, on the wheelhouse deck. But of course yachting is

mostly about entertainment and relaxation and Ruea Yachts’ concept does not disappoint. Atop sits a sundeck with bar and just below, aft of the wheelhouse deck, is a sweeping upper reception giving way to an outside lounging space complete with 3.5 metre mini swimming pool. Moving down to the main deck we discover the main saloon and dining areas plus a plush cinema room. The lower deck sees plenty of action in the form of a state-of-the-art gymnasium and aft garaging for tenders, jet skis and generous storage for scuba gear and other watersports kit. Completing the breakthrough design is an ingenious foldout beach right at the stern with essential wet bar. She even has the option for a helicopter touch pad on the bow. Ruea Yachts is actively marketing its 60 metre design in both Asia and Europe and construction will only commence once a buyer is in place. This gives them a hands-on role in the build process and ensures that their yacht suits their needs and tastes. Arrival Yachts is the official dealer for Ruea Yachts in Spain and can handle any enquiries relating to the 60 metre or indeed any superyacht sized build.

PORT ADRIANO

Port The Berth Adriano of a New Era REPORT SARAH DRANE

In the south-western corner of Mallorca, less than half an hour’s drive west of Palma, something quite astonishing is in the final throes of creation. In the unfamiliar coastal town of El Toro, specialist marina constructor Ocibar has joined forces with the best-known modern designer in the world, Philippe Starck, to conceive a global reference point for superyachts. Promising to deliver some of the largest and most technically sophisticated moorings in the Mediterranean, the new Port Adriano plans to have Cannes cowering in its wake.

New’ isn’t actually the most accurate way of describing Port Adriano. The marina has been in existence since 1992 offering 404 berths from six to 18 metres in length, a yacht repair and refit area and 4,500m² of commercial space including a handful of decent restaurants. However, in order to make the step up from ‘average’ to ‘extraordinary’, Port Adriano commenced a mammoth 90 million euro makeover in October 2007. With their sights firmly set on the superyacht market, the improved Port Adriano has an additional 82 berths for larger vessels up to 60m, 280 secure covered parking spaces ideal for keeping the salt spray off the Ferrari and the repair and refit area has grown in size fourfold. Meanwhile all around Philippe Starck has left his mark, not least in the two storey commercial area which extends along the central mooring quay. Although Port Adriano makes history as the first marina to be designed by Philippe Starck, the unconventional Frenchman has already made waves in the megayacht arena with the design of Andrey Melnichenko’s megayacht named simply ‘A’ after his wife Aleksandra. Costing over $300 million, ‘A’ is somewhat of a cross between a First World War battleship and a submarine and has been called everything from ‘stunning’ to ‘the ugliest yacht

in the world’. Ocibar most definitely made a clear statement of intent when they entrusted the design of Port Adriano to Monsieur Starck. Like ‘A’, the marina would certainly be talked about, undoubtedly for its beauty. Starck has created Port Adriano’s mooring bollards (easily the most stylish bollards any superyacht rope will have the privilege of tying itself around), seating areas, the ambient lighting fashioned to resemble oversized standard lamps complete with charcoal grey shades and of course the central commercial complex. Arranged over two floors, this will house yacht sales and charter companies, boutiques, nautical sport enterprises and plenty of bars and restaurants. Hamburg’s ultimate design restaurant, East, will emerge as the flagship eatery receiving prime position at the end of the thoroughfare and also exhibit the Starck design touch – both inside and out. Isabel Teruel, Director of Port Adriano, explains, “Our commercial area is shaping up very nicely and by summer 2011 we’ll be complete and operational. Our decision to throw an underground car park into the equation posed a slight challenge, however, it was the right move as it prevents vehicles from blocking the open marina views from the café and restaurant terraces.

14 Arrival Yachts Magazine

Arrival.indd 14

17/4/11 18:06:57

At the moment we have around 70% of the ground floor commercial space rented and 40% of the first, but it’s important to remember that we are being selective in order to offer the right mix of reputable businesses to our discerning clientele.” In keeping with the commercial property take-up rate, Port Adriano’s moorings have also been received enthusiastically with two thirds of the new places already reserved. With a mixture of rental and purchase moorings, all rumoured to be more affordable than nearby Puerto Portals and Palma, the yachts are proudly taking their place – all the more impressive given that the October 2007 makeover kickoff coincided almost to the month with the onset of the global economic crash. Isabel continues, “You could say that our timing couldn’t have been worse. Most commentators cite December 2007 as being the onset of world recession and by then we were barely two months into a 90

million euro programme targeted at the superrich. However, our finances were in place and we have been able to forge on as planned with only slight delays. And, if we can be as successful as we have been in an economic downturn, there can only be positivity ahead for Port Adriano as the rebound takes shape.” Progress has indeed been remarkable. By June 2010, 51 new moorings on the outer quay were in service for 25 to 60 metre yachts – in itself a massive feat of engineering as the outer wall was raised from a height of five metres to ten metres. Along the length of this 500 metre breakwater, which the public will be able to stroll along, is a succession of 24m² storage rooms each connected to the power supply – a welcome bonus for resident yachts. Next came the opening of the revamped repair and refit area in October 2010 which has been busy ever since. Run by Yates Adriano, the facility is both affordable and allows for all

kinds of painting and repairs for even the largest of vessels thanks to a new 250 tonne travel lift. Finally, once the commercial area is ready for launch, the last piece of the Port Adriano jigsaw will be the installation of a completely new sailing school. With many of the marinas that try to compete with Port Adriano coping with ageing infrastructure and limited services, captains and crew will certainly be impressed with the gadgetry (osmotised water, on-mooring fuel and waste disposal service, wi-fi, data and TV connectivity and so on) technical support and megayacht focused customer care on offer in this corner of Mallorca. And, having signed-up a precise mix of attractions to create the right vibe for this discerning breed of customer, Port Adriano may well fulfil its ambition to be the hottest place in the western Med to park your 60 metre.

The Arrival Yachts Service i

n 1 years of selling boats both in Marbella and Mallorca, i have been involved with all types of vessels from modest ski boats to superyachts worth many millions of euros. During that time spain has proven to be a major european centre for yachting, Mallorca in particular, and many of the top yacht brokerage houses have offices here. Against this backdrop i felt that there was a niche for Arrival Yachts, a company that would provide a high quality service to a global audience beyond spain. When i sold a boat on the east coast of Australia to a client in Fort lauderdale, involving a fortnight of am starts and 2am turn-ins, this theory was borne out. through the experience of dealing with a host of nationalities from around the world, you develop an instinct for being able to guide clients smoothly through the buying and selling process. My intention is for the best possible result in every case, whilst simultaneously avoiding the many pitfalls that can be thrown into the path of a sale. At Arrival Yachts we strive to assist our clients in making informed decisions whenever they might need it. Whether buying or selling, it’s vitally important that everybody feels that they have had a fair deal in order for our clients to stay happy in the long term. Be assured that Arrival Yachts is well-accustomed to offering a comprehensive service that can cater to all of your boating needs – either under one roof or through our trusted service partners.

Buying clients Through continual networking in the marinas and across the industry, Arrival Yachts maintains a selection of almost 100 direct listings of vessels for sale. This clearly demonstrates the confidence that these owners place in the Company’s services. The majority of these listings are procured from the Balearics from owners with whom Arrival Yachts has conducted business for many years, although the database is being steadily added to with vessels throughout the Mediterranean and further afield. Arrival Yachts has an unmatched level of cooperation with other yacht brokerages and with this networking it is easy to conduct a detailed and accurate survey of the market. Arrival Yachts helps buying clients filter through the mass of sometimes confusing information on the internet and in the yachting press and can identify which boats are more keenly for sale. In short, the Team can give you, the customer, an idea of the likely selling prices - more quickly. With the comprehensive details and photos prepared by Arrival Yachts, clients are able to narrow down a shortlist of boats from the comfort of their home computer. And, it is from this shortlist that they can then plan an itinerary of visits to view the vessels of greatest interest. As the global economic climate continues to be uncertain, Arrival Yachts naturally has direct contact with a number of financial institutions with regard to their repossessions. Indeed there are repossessed boats on the market, though not perhaps as many as some have been led to believe, and most will not appear in the public domain or be advertised at the request of the banks.

Selling clients Arrival Yachts is fastidious about its market research and the quality of the Company’s sales particulars. Great importance is placed on decent photography including exterior, interior and running at sea. A comprehensive set of images should leave the prospective

buyer with a proper ‘feel’ for the vessel or vessels they are considering. In a location like Mallorca there is no excuse for not taking the boat out for a photo shoot and at the same time conduct a short sea trial in order to let clients know how the vessel performs underway. As each owner is keen to explain what makes their boat special and stand out from the competition, this is something that Arrival Yachts likes to convey in its particulars. Owners are therefore encouraged to actively approve and verify

exemplary manner, failure to do this can cause misunderstandings and deals can be lost in this way. It’s unwise to entrust a yacht sale, or indeed purchase, to just any broker. Conduct due diligence and look seriously into the agency’s capabilities and understanding. Where possible, Arrival Yachts is keen to mirror the Mediterranean Yacht Brokers Association format of contract between the buyer and seller. The Company also likes to ensure that the spirit of the deal is clearly understood between both parties. In yacht brokerage there is no substitute for experience and foresight to ensure a successful outcome. Arrival Yachts is accustomed to liaising with ship registries and financial houses.
