aM SOCIETY Since it began in 2018, ten couples and individuals have chosen to include the Albuquerque Museum Foundation in their estate plans, pledging approximately $3 million. These individuals understand that giving from generation to generation is one of the most significant ways to leave a lasting legacy. According to one anonymous donor, “I love the estate intention gift. It gives my husband and me the opportunity to put down a marker for where we want our money to go when we are ready. It’s not a huge commitment that I have to ponder and recommit to every few years but something that will grow as we grow in our love for the museum.

12 WINTER 2020 Art. History. People. It is important to specifically list the Albuquerque Museum Foundation in your will so that your gift may be properly managed and acknowledged, and your wishes honored. Estate gifts can be designated to the following areas: Education Program, General Endowment, Acquisitions, or Exhibitions.

If you are interested in joining the aM Society or want information about estate giving, please call or email Emily Blaugrund Fox at 505.338.8738 or ebfox@ albuquerquemuseumfoundation.org.

GIVING KEEPS THE WHEELS SPINNING Art Start introduces pre-schoolers to art in a museum setting. The program, sponsored by Vintage Albuquerque, and organized as part of Magic Bus, was developed in collaboration with Early Learning Specialists at Albuquerque Public Schools to provide access to quality art museum visits, and educational materials for early childhood students, teachers, and family members. Specially trained guides lead groups through an interactive exploration of select artworks using storytelling, performance, and hands-on experience. The program will be offered three days a month from January through March, and free bus transportation is available. “We are creating an environment where museums and art can be fun and accessible to young children,” says Elizabeth Becker, curator of education. “Art Start has inspired us to consider how we can grow our programming for young children and their families.”

The Magic Bus program connects older children with their community through art, culture and history. Students receive free transportation to a one-hour tour of the museum, followed by a 30-minute art activity. The program is open to students from public, private, or home schools and is funded through generous donations.
