EUROPEAN SHORT PITCH / 2019

INTENTION NOTE Although they seem very different, Luce and the Rock are quite alike. Luce lives in a small village, a place where she feels safe. This is exactly what the Rock is looking for as well, a safe place, away from the darkness! When the Rock enters the village, Luce sees in him an intruder who destroys everything on his way. Luce is strong and brave, but also imperfect and fragile. She wants to protect her world without realising she’s rejecting someone who needs help. The film follows the relationship between Luce and the Rock and its evolution. From misunderstanding to acceptance, from suspicion to empathy, from loneliness to friendship. Their fear of the dark brings them closer, and only together they can face darkness. In the end, the Rock makes Luce’s home a safe place again – by completing her world. The clear visual style, the thought out colour scheme and the use of light and dark emphasise the characters and the story. The film’s core audience are (but not limited to) boys and girls between 4-7 years old. The tone and style of the film is that of a tale: both fun and poetic, and full of adventure and emotion at the same time.
