DECADE SPONSOR As we celebrate 40 years of operation and look forward to a very exciting future, we are thrilled to establish DECADE SPONSORSHIPS. Tonight, we have selected four very special DECADE SPONSORS to applaud and acknowledge: Comfort Supply Inc., Tim Federle, Tom and Bonnie VanKirk, and the McSwigan Family Foundation. Over the years, the CTA has endured many challenges and celebrated many achievements. These four Decade Sponsors highlighted in tonight’s program have demonstrated an incredible ability to both listen to and hear what is shared with them. They also know the difference between needs and wants, and how to embrace, explore, appreciate and reward ambition. They give more than they take, and after talking or meeting with them, they leave you inspired!

Congratulations on

MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD On behalf of the Board of Directors of The Center for Theater Arts, I would like to say “Thank You”. During this turbulent and uncertain time, we are humbled by the compassion and financial generosity of our community. Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, the steadfast support has lifted our spirits and buoyed our strength. This past year has been one of many challenges but with your help, we were able to reopen our doors and let the kids voices be heard. Thank you for helping us help the kids by keeping The Center in our community.

ABOUT THE EVENT Throughout our 40-year history in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, the CTA has welcomed over 15,000 students of all ages and abilities. Thanks to the continued generosity of our families, donors and sponsors during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been able to reimagine, remain open, and reinvest in our future. Our Bella Rose, you danced into our hearts 18 years ago and have never stopped dancing and singing. The joy you bring to us is immeasurable. Your kind and generous spirit will take you on your next journey to more successes and happiness. We love you the moon and back. Love Uncle Larry and Bebe

This special event marks the celebration and appreciation of the past 40 years, and of what’s to come in the CTA’s future. Thanks to the generosity and support of the Michael J. Kara Family, a cast of 30 CTA students will perform musical numbers from the past 40 years live on stage at Pittsburgh’s iconic Heinz Hall venue. We will share the story of our history and will let you know that YOUR voice has been heard: the Center for Theater Arts will remain in your community for years to come!

One year ago, this very weekend - The CTA for the 1st time in our history was CLOSED! It wasn’t the shows we missed — it was the kids! There is no Center for Theater Arts without the kids. Some of the most meaningful moments and powerful images over these many months was re-opening the Center for Theater Arts this summer — We had to find a way to be here for the kids. We didn’t want our focus to be on reacting … we wanted to STAY focused on IMPACTING. The CTA is proud of the incredible programs we offer, excited about the power of arts education, and remains committed to the future. We are much more than a place to take voice, dance, musical theater and theater instruction. We are a destination for ALL children at all STAGES in their lives! As you take your virtual seats for this very special performance, I of course want to say thank you to the Michael J. Kara Family, The CTA Board of Directors, Heinz Hall, the CTA Faculty, Staff and all of our sponsors for letting us hear their VOICES of support! Over these many months I got to be in the room to watch the CTA kids …take care of each other! What an honor to have been in the room with these wonderful kids. We knew we could OPEN the CENTER, and we had a solid plan on how to move forward creatively and safely - but the kids would be taking care of each other, keeping each other safe and using their VOICES to make a difference. They were ALL playing a principal character this year! Focused on discovery, care, kindness, intentions, respect and creativity! They are leads as well as leaders! And if I may share one more thing – I have a front row seat every day at the Center. I watch their successes, observed their struggles, cheered their triumphs and together we re-imagined the possibilities and potential that await us all. Trust me when I tell you, this paragraph is how it feels EVERY year at the Center for Theater Arts and I am incredibly grateful for your trust, confidence, and I remain inspired. …it’s showtime folks!!

Billy Hartung Executive Director A Special Note: I also want to take a moment to acknowledge and THANK two very special individuals at HEINZ HALL. Becky Rickard & Stacy Weber! Becky was the 1st person I shard this crazy, ambitious and heARTfelt idea with - she was in full support – and a CTA Alum She introduced me to Stacy – and from that moment on HEINZ HALL took such good care of the CTA and this opportunity to help the kids! I’m so appreciative!

🙂

At the CTA: We ALL have a role to play! Becky, Stacy, and everyone at HEINZ HALL played their roles ...Brilliantly!!
