Whether it is professionally or personally. But if one thing is for sure, it has allowed us to reflect on ourselves and appreciate what we have. And one of those things, I believe, is appreciating our loved ones more than ever. No one quite knows what 2021 will look like – weddings, no weddings, lockdown, no lockdown – but one thing is for sure: our concept of a beautiful wedding seems to have shrunk in size to include those important few. In this transitional period of the maxi wedding trend to the micro wedding trend, I thought I might offer you a few tips on how to manage this in the most effective way possible.

Make sure to start with the closest and dearest: parents, siblings and bridal party. And for the others, set-up a professionally managed Zoom account to login to with several camera angles, for example, to make sure that the whole day is captured and shared. (Visit zoom.com)

It’s not because you have fewer people that you can’t have the beautiful wedding you always wanted! Make sure that the aisle, the flowers, and the details are all there. Your guests will still appreciate it, and will probably enjoy it more than ever seeing that we have been deprived of these pleasures for so long now.

Make sure that you are still hosting your guests in the way that you always imagined. Speeches, good food and wine, and maybe even some speeches from guests via Zoom! Your band or DJ can still be leading you into the night, just make sure that your venue makes you feel cosy and not like a small group of people lost amid a large hall.

We absolutely love winter ceremonies, and with this styled shoot, we wanted to convey the magic of the festive season. Centred around pink hues, metallics and mirrored surfaces, this unconventional take on a Christmas-inspired wedding, blends playful elements such as glitter nutcrackers and customised baubles, to regal lorals and the most breath-taking historical venue. In order to make our vision our reality, Roberta Facchini and Chris from Perfect Moment Films were the obvious choices to capture photos and videos respectively, as their work captures light and colour so beautifully.

said “I Do” in one of the most magical cities in the world, Venice
W
e picked Venice because it is the epitome of romance, luxury and uniqueness. We were looking for a venue that would be a quintessential symbol of Venice and its timeless beauty. Among the many locations, we chose The St Regis Venice, an iconic hotel overlooking one of the most sought after views of the city - the Basilica della Salute. The backdrop was perfect. For the reception, on the terrace overlooking the Grand Canal and the Basilica della Salute, we opted for an “en rose” tablescape, with pale pink silk tablecloths, the finest china, flowers as lisianthus, snowberry, eucalyptus and exquisite English roses that we also used as placeholders. For my wedding look, I was on the quest for something very special. I went for a precious yet understated gown, alluring and classic, designed with love and perfect for my figure. Once again, Weddings By Nexa guided me in selecting the perfect make-up artist! We opted for a luminous base combined with sophisticated yet natural makeup, where the eyes were the focal point. For my hair, we chose a soft and tidy hairstyle to which we added an accessory made with the same beads and stones used for my wedding gown. Certainly, wanting to organize the most important event of our life is not as easy as it seems. One of our main concerns was how to get our guests to the right places at the right time. This is one of the reasons why we contacted a company that has years of experience in organizing luxury events. They took care of all the related services, such as logistics, which we think can be a real challenge in Venice! Relax in the hands of experienced wedding planners and let them manage every tiny detail to create a wedding that’s a work of art.

e got married on my parents’ estate, Blame Her Ranch. However, we did consider other locations, including Colombia, but it’s hard to beat the ranch with all of its activities, venues, views and ideal proximity to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Blame Her Ranch has over 18,000 sq. ft. of lawn for as many guests as we wanted to attend. It also has a rustic knotty pine barn which made for an easy backup plan in case of rain. We did use the Barn for our welcome dinner the night before our wedding. The last venue is the Great Room which we loved because we could have a pianist play on the Baby Grand Piano while the caterers served handcrafted margaritas. We kept the decor very simple and natural. We used a local florist and also saved a lot by having specific flowers flown in the day before to decorate the ceremony area and provide special greenery on all the tables. We had lots of signage and pictures in the knotty pine barn on the evening of the welcome dinner and we topped off the night with special gifts for everyone from Colombia as well as a magnificent firework show. Blame Her Ranch is an independent Airbnb-like facility and you can consider it your blank canvas. So anyone having their wedding there, including us, can decide on what caterers they want, alcohol and bar service, florist, band, etc. We found out that other venues have restrictions both on what vendors you can use, as well as, cut off times and other “dos and don’ts”. We did not get preferential treatment because my parents own the ranch. It is a simple and straightforward place that allows couples to celebrate their dream wedding. We had a relatively small gathering and the entire wedding party stayed at the ranch. Blame Her Ranch sleeps 24 and is adding more on-site glamping capabilities that will increase the sleeping capacity to 32. Everything was pretty easy and seamless to organise. Randy, the Ranch Hand was instrumental on vendors, logistics, etc., but we also had a local wedding planner on the day of the event. Wedding planners are very important and pick your venue first. Most of the best venues are fully booked 18 months in advance. But the most important thing is to look closely at the contract details as there are many hidden costs and restrictions with most.

celebrated their micro wedding in the heart of Santorini
W
e were inspired to plan our wedding in Santorini by our friends who had their wedding there. Our wedding planner, Ekaterina of I Do Weddings, helped us choose the venue for the ceremony. She was great at communicating with us and sent all the possible offers with photos and videos, conditions and prices attached. Based on all this information, choosing a venue ended up being very easy. The venue for our wedding was decorated according to our wishes - everything was white, with white flowers and lots of greenery. The florist did a wonderful job with the gazebo, whilst the planners, Ekaterina and Anastasia, perfectly decorated the table with candles and a vase for my bouquet. Everything was very organic and tasteful! Ekaterina also helped us a lot to keep costs down. Thanks to this, it was quite easy for us to choose what was necessary and what was superfluous. There are noticeably expensive flowers on the island. Therefore, we asked the planners to move the flower arrangements from the venue to the restaurant for dinner. I found the dress of my dreams in my home country, Latvia. We have a wonderful wedding shop, Light Rooms Riga, which cooperates with world-famous brands. As soon as I entered the store, I immediately saw it! It was so incredibly glamorous and it was the perfect dress for an island elopement! The stylist Yulia Afanasenko helped me with my image. We talked about the dress, accessories and the whole look. I wanted an elegant and airy feel and she delivered just that! In 2020, the challenge was the very opportunity to get to the island of Santorini due to the pandemic and the travel restrictions. But fortunately, we were able to travel to Greece and our wedding went as we planned! The top tip is to choose great planners for your wedding. We were lucky to work with both Ekaterina of I Do Weddings and Anastasia of Indigo Weddings Santorini and we were thrilled with the outcome! All information was provided in a very clear, precise manner! Any inconvenient question was solved very easily and this is what makes Ekaterina and Anastasia real professionals in the field! We are incredibly grateful to them for our wedding holiday!

Sunneva & Harri got hitched in a contemporary setting, in Finland
We were planning to have our wedding at another venue but then the Coronavirus breakout changed all of our plans. Luckily, one of my friends contacted me and offered us this beautiful 400-year old iron factory in Billnäs, in southern Finland, as a wedding space. It ended up being the perfect solution. We opted for a “Yankee style” wedding, which underwent many last-minute changes. Due to Covid-19, all things had to be rethought. So our wedding planner suggested crystals, tall floral arrangements, natural materials, and feathers. Janne-Caro is a a well-known designer in Finland, so he had many good discounts. Harri and I made a lot of decorations ourselves, too. Janne-Caro provided us with the drink and snack buffet for free. The wedding cake and catering service was a present from relatives and a friends. The biggest gift was getting the whole party venue and hotel available for free for the wedding weekend. The groom and best man found their suits at my good friend’s shop Niinatar wedding dress store. For my dress, I ended up getting my gown from Finnish designer Heidi Tuisku who made alterations so that it could also be an evening party dress. My own hairdresser and make-up artist Maija Kaunisto, created my look. She knows my style and we’ve been working together for a long time, so she knew exactly what I wanted. The biggest challenge was, of course, the global pandemic, especially for our guests coming from abroad. Lucky for us, Janne-Caro was not only our wedding planner, but he was also the spiritual support and master of ceremonies at our wedding, taking care of the well-being, safety and smooth running of the party from start to finish. My tip is to trust the future and give space to love. Think carefully about what you want, limit your budget, and choose a good team and a really experienced wedding planner for yourself.

Taking the bridal world by storm, Pippa Cooke takes us through her first bridal collecton Tell us about your label. BON BRIDÉ is a London based bridal label looking to offer minimalist and sustainable wedding dresses for the modern, fashion-forward bride. We took inspiration from our current wardrobes by adding elements like a t-shirt sleeve, a roll neck, a long sleeve to beautiful, slim-fitting gowns. BON BRIDÉ is also a huge advocate for slow fashion and we offer affordable options to either dye the gown black or remake it into something else - we have some exciting jumpsuits in the making right now. How would you describe the Bon Bride bride? The BON BRIDÉ girl has style. She’s cool and different and she doesn’t conform to trends, nor does she want your typical lace or beaded wedding dress. She wants something to reflect her personality and is mindful of the impact her purchases have on the planet. How would you like to make an impact on the bridal industry? As a designer, I have a huge responsibly to be as ethical and sustainable as possible. At BON BRIDE, we use all our offcuts to make masks, accessories and we only make to order, so no dress is ever wasted. Our fabrics and trims are sourced from the most premium suppliers who share the same ethos. What inspires your work? I get inspiration from who are unique, confident and pure. I am obsessed with pattern cutting and drapery and I love going to the menswear fashion shows and adapting the ideas to womenswear. How has bridal wear changed? Many amazing brands now are pulling away from the traditional bridal look and offering something reusable. A lot of separate pieces are available and there are more fashionable, easy-to-wear pieces on offer. Tell us about your first collection. I pulled out some staple wardrobe pieces and simply made a wedding dress version with round necklines, long sleeves, pockets, zips at the cuffs, and rollnecks. We also have a lot of grosgrain ribbon details at the waist which is super contouring for lots of shapes. With this collection the dresses look just as beautiful on the outside as they do on the inside. What are you doing differently with the current COVID-19 situation? During Covid-19 we provided an “AT HOME “ service; we sent out dresses to brides from all over the world to try on at home. It really surprised me how many people loved the service and the majority of them purchased their dress afterwards. It is something we will certainly continue to do. How has the pandemic affected your business? I feel very lucky that we haven’t been impacted so much. Of course, we would have taken on more brides, but we actually received many last-minute orders. Push up on knees in a plank 1) Push Up on Knees or in a Plank Ensure your knees are behind your hips and you can contract your glutes in this position. Keep the abdominal tight drawing the navel towards the spine. Bend your elbows, maintaining stability in the shoulders and neck.
2) Side plank on elbow (30 seconds per side) This side plank work wonders for your shoulders and waist. You can modify the position by keeping the knees on the floor. Before getting into position, slide your shoulder down away from you ear.

3) The Teaser Start with arms and legs extended on the floor. As you exhale begin to articulate the spine off the mat, then lift your legs (bent or straight) and come into a V position. Inhale to return to starting position.

4) Chest Lift Lying on the floor, hands on forehead, lift your chest off the ground. To make it a little harder, you can keep the hands behind your head. Ensure your abdominals are contracted and the navel draws towards the spine. Lift on the exhale, then inhale and lower.

5) Plank walk in and out Get into a high plank position, on your hands. Bring right knee in to touch your elbow.Bring that knee back out and do the same with the left. Continue this, whilst alternating sides.
6) Criss Cross Lie down on your mat in the supine position and place your hands behind your head. Bend right knee and rotate the opposite shoulder toward it. Straighten your right knee and bend you left knee, and rotate opposite shoulder toward it.

7) Squats Stand with feet a little wider than hip width, toes facing front. Drive your hips back—bending at the knees and ankles and pressing your knees slightly ope as you sit into a squat position while still keeping your heels and toes on the ground, chest up and shoulders back.
8) Warrior Warrior
Stand straight and balance on right leg. Keep left back behind you lifted in a tabletop position. Place your hands on your chest and hold this for five seconds. Then bring your left leg forward again.
9) Cooldown Once you finished your workout, slow down and focus your mind on the length of your breath. Allow your abdominals to relax when inhaling, but on the exhale, focus on tightening the abdominal area to promote a stronger exhalation.
Top Tips Consistency in training can boost your confidence
Taking care of yourself is best way to improve your confidence. So, when you start taking care of your needs, and dedicating time to your fitness routine, you might not realise this at first, but you are starting a process that will boost your confidence enormously. To get in the best possible shape I recommend starting on a 12-week programme mixing cardio and strength training, whilst also maintaining a healthy diet. You’re going to need to consume a healthy combination of vitamins and nutrients, so make sure to cut out any unnecessary empty calories. Water is also essential. Remember your skin will look gorgeous if you keep hydrated!

Good posture seems to be one of the most common desires amongst brides and groomsto-be. For both men and women, having strong shoulders and arms, not only look great but are also a sign of a healthy back and good muscle strength. Where is the law heading in relation to Covid-19 restrictions for wedding operators? BY JULIAN HAWHEAD
W
hile couples are having to get used to new restrictions that the government has placed on weddings and civil ceremonies, the industry itself has begun taking action to counter these constraints. A wedding operator has been the first to take the matter to the High Court, applying for an injunction to prevent the enforcement of a 15-guest limit which now pertains to all weddings and civil partnerships. The judge was quick to refuse the application, explaining that current restrictions are in the public’s interest, which outweighs business’ needs. This was shortly after a venue received a £10,000 fine for hosting a wedding reception with circa 100 guests. Navigating government guidelines is not easy when organising a wedding / civil partnership. Currently, under this second lockdown, weddings and civil partnerships are almost impossible; the best we can hope for is that the local Covid alerts system restarts on 2nd December, which will again dictate where receptions and celebrations can occur, i.e. in ‘Medium’ and ‘High’ risk areas, but not those in the ‘Very High’ risk category. While wedding operators fear for the future of the industry, families in the UK are becoming increasingly modern, thus dismantling the concept of what a traditional ‘family’ entails. This is being reflected in the types of weddings couples are choosing to have; for example, outdoor venues are increasingly popular, as they can more readily reflect a couples’ beliefs. This summer, the Law Commission put together a report currently under review by the Church of England, which would see the most significant shift in the history of wedding ceremony laws. The report suggested that couples should be allowed to marry anywhere they choose, rather than being restricted to places of worship or licensed registry buildings. If the proposals are accepted, couples will be able to fulfil their dreams of having a legally-recognised marriage anywhere they like, whether atop of a cliff or on the beach. So while Covid-19 is far from an ideal scenario, many couples
are using this as an opportunity to get creative with how they choose to tie the knot. Inviting friends and family via video links, choosing outdoor venues and making them more of a daytime affair so as to adhere to the 10 pm curfew, many brides and grooms-to-be are adopting a healthy approach to wedding planning. When considering outdoor venues, the law is rather specific on what is deemed to be ‘outdoors’. A venue will be classed as indoors if: “(i) the opening in the premises has an area; or (ii) if there is more than one, both or all those openings have an aggregate area, which is less than half of the area of the walls, including any other structures serving the purpose of walls, which constitute the perimeter of the premises”. This means that by and large, marquees will be considered outdoor spaces, as long as the sides are taken off. Much of the responsibility to ensure wedding or civil partnership celebrations are in-keeping with guidelines is in the hands of the venue managers. So when looking for locations, remember that venue managers will decide whether it is safe to go ahead. They must make sure they are carrying out proper risk assessments in accordance with the government’s safety guidelines, so as not to be in breach of health and safety legislation. Of course, many couples are choosing to hold fire until the restrictions are lifted. But you need not feel like time is being paused; we often see marriages break down as a result of financial stress, so now is a good time to build a solid foundation for marriage by ensuring your financial affairs are in order. This might involve drafting pre-nuptual agreements, as well as ‘petnups’ if you share a pet! Perhaps the pandemic is serving as a catalyst to speed up the direction many couples were taking anyway where their civil partnerships and wedding ceremonies are concerned, illustrating the shift we are experiencing in the UK towards more modern family structures. When I came to Santorini, I was working in the tourism industry. I soon realised that this island was the perfect canvas for an indescribable wedding experience. A place where I could use my artistic style to create wonderful events.
WHAT MAKES SANTORINI SO SPECIAL, WHY SHOULD COUPLES GET MARRIED THERE?
Santorini is one of the world’s top wedding destinations. A unique place home to the sparkling Aegean Sea, the impressive caldera as well as traditional Cycladic architecture. The island is truly spectacular.
WHAT TYPE OF SERVICES DO YOU HAVE AVAILABLE FOR COUPLES?
We plan a variety of different ceremonies, from civil, symbolic or renewals. In addition, we are in contact with a variety of vendors, from live musicians, wedding venues to caterers and kitchens. In essence, we can do everything allowed under Greek Law!
WHY WOULD YOU ADVISE COUPLES TO HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER?
Having a wedding planner makes it much easier to create an amazing event. Planners can manage every aspect of the event, from the preparation process to the ‘day of’ coordination. The bride and groom can relax and enjoy the day, whilst the planner takes care of everything else!
HOW WILL WEDDINGS BE DIFFERENT IN THE ERA OF SOCIAL DISTANCING?
We have a certain number of restrictions, from how many guests are allowed to attend to the distance in between seats at the ceremony and reception, but we’re still trying to keep each celebration just as special. Couples who were finally able to celebrate their wedding this year were really happy.

We’ve been like therapists, keeping in close contact, updating and advising all of our clients. Most couples have chosen to postpone their wedding until next year, but are still very excited to get married in Santorini.
YOUR BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT SO FAR?
As a result of hard work and consistency, we’ve been able to take on so many more weddings, new ideas and projects. Working with couples from all over the world has really expanded our knowledge and experience.

The entire industry will be a lot more hygiene-conscious. Guests will be a lot more fastidious about hygiene levels and only those establishments that provide the highest standards will see an increase in business. Conversely, those establishments that take a casual approach won’t last long.
WHAT IS THE SITUATION IN INDIA LIKE AT THE MOMENT?
Weddings are not currently permitted, owing to restrictions imposed by the Government of India and state authorities. We’re constantly monitoring the developments so that we can plan accordingly.
HOW IS THE WEDDING INDUSTRY HANDLING THE CURRENT GLOBAL CONDITION?
Unfortunately, the pandemic has highlighted how unscrupulous some operators in the industry can be. You only have to Google the phrase ‘wedding cancelled, refund denied’ to come across the unprofessional manner in which clients have been treated by venues, vendors and planners. Our recommendation to people is that they take out specialised insurance, draft a contract that gives them maximum room for compensation if the counterparty breaches and to thoroughly research who they’re dealing with. We, on the other hand, are more than comfortably solvent and liquid, which is why we can give away honeymoons!
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEW YEAR?
Well, apart from the fact that it will be great to return to India to plan weddings, the big draw for us is to work with loved-up couples! Their youthful energy, enthusiasm, ignited minds and passion for their roots, despite their cosmopolitan and modern upbringing, make a heady and dizzying combination of life forces! We also like spending time with the couples’ families. Indian weddings are all about families: parents, siblings, cousins, uncles, aunties, grandparents! And, winters in India are the best time to be there so, for us, the chance to experience Indian winters is always something we look forward to.

By far the best moment of my profession is hearing that blissful sigh of relief from each couple, once their ceremony has been performed, and their licence has been completed. They’re free to start their beautiful journey as a married couple.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE WEDDING TRENDS YOU’VE SEEN LATELY?
I love movie and colour inspired themes! One of my favourites was a Game of Thrones themed wedding. The groom came down the aisle to wait for the bride wearing a cape and other clothing inspired by the series.
WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSON YOU’VE LEARNT AS AN OFFICIANT?
There are two main things I would suggest. First, always make sure to get a deposit, and the second is to always maintain ongoing and open communication with every couple you work with.
