EVENTS, NETWORKING AND SPONSORSHIP FOR BUSINESS

DURHAM UNIVERSITY BUSINESS SCHOOL

ANNUAL EVENTS PROGRAMME We help global business leaders and organisations broaden their reach through networking and events. As well as benefiting and inspiring others, engaging with us through our series of events is an excellent vehicle for increasing your organisation’s skills bank and standing within the relevant field.

We engage with businesses that recognise the significance of a partnership with a leading global business school, a partnership with mutual benefits. Your investment enables us to keep delivering world-class business education.

DURHAM SPEAKER SERIES Our highly successful lecture series, featuring inspirational leaders, continues to build momentum. The events address audiences of our corporate partners, students and alumni, providing an ideal opportunity to network with potential clients as well as meet prospective employees. These events take place throughout the year in various UK locations.

DURHAM SPEAKER SERIES: CORPORATE FORUM An ideal entry point for organisations and individuals to access the potential of our cutting edge research. One UK and one international forum per year showcase progressive insights from Durham’s leading academics and demonstrate the application of research to real business issues.

GUEST LECTURES Can you help shape tomorrow’s leaders? These lectures enable businesses to share practical knowledge with our students that will support them in the modules they are studying. A two way exchange that will enable you to promote your brand directly to quality students and interact directly with the talent of tomorrow.

D8 MASTERCLASS SERIES The D8 is a worldwide masterclass series of events hosted each year in our eight most significant markets. They are tailored for current and prospective students, alumni of Durham University Business School (DUBS) and our corporate partners. Delivered in conjunction with our Centre for Global Learning and Executive Education, the D8 series enables alumni and businesses to engage with the School’s vision of lifelong learning, and provide prospective students with the chance to experience DUBS teaching. The events also afford guests the opportunity to sample the quality of the School’s Executive Education.

LEADING EDGE CAREER WORKSHOPS AND ANNUAL CONFERENCE In conjunction with our Leading Edge Careers Team, this worldwide series of activities offers alumni the opportunity to focus on developing the tools and skills required to make an impact in their chosen career. The annual conference takes place in London and brings together students and recent graduates for a day of guest speakers, skills sessions and panel discussions. Companies are invited to attend these events as guest speakers or panellists to promote career opportunities and network with potential future employees. “I’m really inspired by Durham University Business School, not just their practical approach to giving students a feel for the realities of the business world, but also how they reach out to a wider community, and to their alumni from around the world, through their events programme. I took part in one such event, a fantastic networking evening in London, with an impressive audience and very stimulating questions. When I was running Green & Black’s, I found it really important to get out of the office, step away from the screen (and the day-to-day firefighting), and look at the ‘bigger picture’. Events like those organised by the Business School offer that all-too-rare opportunity for those of us in the fast-paced corporate world, to network with other people who are facing the same challenges - and perhaps be inspired by individuals who’ve done well. This outward-facing approach shows that the Business School truly has its finger on the pulse of the business community. It’s a fascinating programme, and I encourage any entrepreneur or business person to make the most of it.”

SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES Corporate Support of Durham Business School enables us to stay at the forefront of business education and knowledge transfer. We frequently work with businesses who recognise the significance of this investment and its mutual benefits. Opportunities include:

NAMING OF FACILITIES Following extensive redevelopment, the main site of the Business School features a striking contemporary entrance revealing new lecture theatres, seminar areas, breakout spaces, redesigned outdoor courtyards and more. Partners are offered the opportunity to sponsor numerous areas of the building.

ACADEMIC CHAIRS To reinforce the reputation of our worldclass teaching we seek support to endow academic chairs. There are numerous disciplines that can be galvanised in this way. Funding options include sponsoring a distinguished professorial post. There is no better way for an organisation to show

PARTNERSHIP PRIVILEGES their allegiance to academic excellence than by naming an Academic Chair at Durham.

SCHOLARSHIPS Our reputation for quality, our broad programme portfolio and our employability statistics attract a diverse range of high calibre applicants, yet cost can be a prohibitive factor. Scholarships address this barrier for those students who have the ability, but not the means. We particularly seek support for our one-year Masters programmes in the fields of management, marketing, finance and economics.

EVENTS A range of tailored opportunities exists to support our events. These local, national and international events attract audiences for different purposes. We are open to the tailoring of audiences and themes of events to meet sponsors’ objectives. Visit www.durham.ac.uk/business for more information.

The Alcatel Lucent MBA Scholarship provided us with an opportunity to actively support the development of future leaders whilst securing a high calibre candidate for our annual MBA consultancy project. The partnership was a fruitful one and further cemented our support of the School’s MBA programme and the talent it attracts.”
