I joined Key Club during my sophomore year of high school, since I became a member I formed new friendships, gained new skills, and I now have a secure bond with a strong community. I was constantly informed about the benefits of Key Club, but I did not utterly understand why it was such an amazing opportunity; however, I was intrigued by the general purpose of the organization, so I chose to take the leap of faith by becoming a Key Club member. As soon as I joined, I was immediately welcomed into the community, and I instantly felt a sense of belonging. I learned that Key Club is more than performing acts of service, it is a family, a union, and a group where anyone can develop their character and leadership. Key Club was the opening door that led me to new experiences. I enjoyed being a member that I decided I wanted to take it a step further by being an officer for Dobie Key Club.

While volunteering I formed new connections and acquired new knowledge. I got to meet other students from different schools, and I found friendships in places I could not have imagined. I learned how to be independent under certain circumstances such as being able to communicate with other adults and students while volunteering and managing an event as an officer. Not only did I improve my communication, but I also expanded my social skills. I got to experience the world through a different lens. Key Club is the cherry on top to my high school career, it helped me grow as an individual, it motivated me to go beyond my comfort zone, and I got to find my voice and passion. Key Club is a solid foundation that supports students of all ages.
