EDINBURGH INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL

The Edinburgh International Festival was held Aug. 7 – 31 and featured a wide range of entertainment including opera, theater, dance and the best music from around the world. The EIF was first inaugurated in 1947 and is in its 68th successful year.

EDINBURGH ART FESTIVAL

The Edinburgh Art Festival is the youngest one of the Edinburgh summer festivals and the UK’s largest annual festival of visual art. This year marked its 12th year. This years’ commission program was titled The Improbable City and it brought together the work of seven artists, all of which offer an encounter with worlds or spaces at the limits of the probable. Platform: 2015 is the first in an annual exhibition dedicated to showcasing new talent at the heart of the festival. The vast majority of the festival was free to attend. There have been more than 30 galleries, museums and artistrun spaces set up around the city with over 100 artists. There were some permanent commissions for instance such as the Scotsman Steps that linked the Old and New Towns. The restoration project was

Mozart’s The Magic Flute was re-imagined and comically animated. It was sung in German with English subtitles. The stage was a white backdrop with a projector to give life of the characters and the scene. One of the highlights of The Magic Flute was the three-story spider. Web: eif.co.uk
