Mega-Moto Showdown Akron, Indiana - August 4 By Becky Stichter

mega-moto showdown, offering a lot of seat time, was held at Hangtime this weekend. With summer vacation coming to an end, the staff at Reads Racing wanted to have a full weekend of riding events and family fun. An open ride was held Thursday afternoon. With two tracks on site now, racing was offered on both tracks this weekend. Friday night’s race was held on the new track, also known as H2. Following the evening race, there was a hillbilly slip & slide for all to enjoy. Racing action Saturday morning was done on a megamoto track. H1 and H2 were combined. It was kind of like a motocross/ grass race/ grand prix all in one, with each moto lasting fifteen minutes. The huge track, and changes from hard packed clay on H1, to softer sandy dirt on H2 challenged the riders stamina and skills.

In the second moto Meranda and Hagemeier battled again, with Meranda pulling ahead this time. In Quad A, Roger Gluth was out of the gates first, followed closely by Mike Bekel and Scott Gluth. Roger rode a few quad lengths ahead of Bekel both motos for the win. Colton Camp had his Roger Gluth leading the Quad riders. KTM revved as high as it Michael Rice of the +30B/C class was would go in both motos of the 50cc (7-8) out of the gates first, and took the lead both class.
