eventeen year old Joe McGurer had a ‘fast’ weekend at the Pleasure Riders final doubleheader hillclimb of 2012, taking the Overall Fast Time award both days and the coveted King of the Hill award on Sunday. Riding his KX500, Joe took the Fast Time Saturday night with a 3.589 second high flying run on his first ride in the 600cc class. He overtook pro rider Shane Green in the same class. Danny Schumann, also riding in the 600cc class was third fastest with a 3.728 second time on his Kawasaki. On Sunday, McGurer took the first round lead again in the 600cc class with a 3.710 second time, overtaking Cody Jenner (now riding his Honda), who sailed over in 3.724 seconds to take a brief lead. In the second round, Jenner moved back into the lead with a 3.657 second run, only to see McGurer pin his throttle and fly over the top in 3.646 seconds to take his second fast time win of the weekend. Dylan Brady was third with a 3.739 second run. Jon Creek was McGurer’s closest challenger for the Fast Time award, nailing a 3.650 second time to win the Senior class. The King of the Hill class is run once a year by each club in Districts 15/ 17, and features the ten fastest riders of the day, regard-

less of the class, in a one run, winner take all shootout. Matt Peters started this class with a fine 3.658 second run on his KX500, and watched seven riders take their shot without beating his time. But the ninth rider in the shootout was Jammin’ Joe, and he flew his Kawasaki over the top in 3.618 seconds to claim the ‘King for a Day’ award. Jon Creek was third with a 3.709 second time on his Honda. In youth class action, Levi Peters claimed the Youth Fast Time award both days on his KX85. Riding in the 85Jr class, Levi’s 4.304 second time on Saturday was the winner with Andrew Fortner second. On Sunday, Levi turned in a 4.381 second time for the win with Jonathon Brian second. In other youth class action, Brodie Bennett won the 50cc class on Saturday with Jadyn Aliprandini second, with Jadyn taking the win Sunday with Brodie second. Gage Stear claimed the 65cc class win both days with Peters second Saturday and Derick Bell second on Sunday. Jacob Bell was first with Clint Garriott second in the 85Sr riders both days. In the Women’s class action, Lauren Shafer and Lakota ‘Shay’ Ashworth flipped the wins and seconds. An interesting sideline is that fifteen year old Lauren was riding the same KTM525 that her dad, Steve rode in the Senior class, and beat his time both days. Not to be outdone by Lauren, Shay rode the same
