Friebel wins Sugar Maple HS Hillpoint, Wisconsin - Sept. 16 By Dave Hollub

O

nce again the Madison Motorcycle Club stepped up and organized a District 16 Hare Scrambles at Sugar Maple MX. This year in addition to using the moto track and woods, they carved a huge maze into the surrounding cornfields. The terrain once again proved to be both technical and fun. Mother Nature also did her part by providing a perfect day. In Women Kimberly Kaczmarowski jumped out into the lead at the beginning and stayed in front of Amy Fischer to the finish. In 65cc Hunter Fischer was out front at the end of lap one and cruised to an easy vic-

tory, finishing four laps. Mark Backus was second and Tyler Lueschow third. In 85cc Sean Wolf was out front at the first corner, but by the time they came into the north woods section Collin Jahns was leading Dalton Peterson. Jahns lost traction in a powdery corner, leaving enough room for Peterson to jump out front. Peterson was able to knock off his next three laps in the fourteen minute range to stay out front and grab the win. After his win Peterson commented, “This was my first time racing a Hare Scrambles and it was fun. Some of the course was pretty hard. I want to thank my Mom and Dad for bringing me out to race.”

Kim Kaczmarowski won the Women’s class.

Brock Lueschow finished his first lap in 50cc just two seconds ahead of Erik Mikelson. Rex Valek was running third just ahead of Emily Backus. After three laps Mikelson got ahead of Lueschow but was only able to hold on for that lap before Mikelson came right back. As they came through scoring on lap fourteen Lueschow was once again leading. In a heartbreaker for Lueschow, he let off just enough on the final lap to let Mikelson slip by and cross the finish just two seconds ahead. In the +50 class Dennis Oakes moved up from a last

place start to the front by the end of lap one. Oakes stayed out front for the entire race. Charles Buse ran second and on lap two managed to put down the fast lap for the class with a 12:48. Jorge Caballero and Mike Jazwiecki finished 3-4. When C class fired up their bikes and headed down the start George Busse was out front with Matthew Sather and Stanley Ward close behind. Collin Buth didn’t waste any time as he quickly moved out front, then held onto the lead to the finish. Buth’s first three laps were the class fast laps with a 12:06 the
