T

he Central Illinois Motorcycle Club hosted a hillclimb double header with Josh Denson and Joe McGurer emerging as the fastest riders. Denson earned his Fast Time award on Saturday night, winning the fast and large 600cc class. His first round time on his KX500 would have held up all night, but he beat it himself with a 2.320 second high flying ride in the second round, giving him the top two times of the night. Jared McKay, also KX500 mounted, was his closest challenger in both the 600cc class and for fast time, posting a 2.463 on his first run. Dan Groth was third in the class in 2.624 seconds on his CR500.

Joe McGurer was the fast guy on Sunday, his 2.551 second first round time on his Kawasaki good enough to win the 600cc class and take the coveted Fast Time award. Jared McKay was once again the closest challenger in both the 600cc class and for fast time with a 2.639 second first round time. McKay crashed hard with a hand full of throttle on his second ride trying to claim the win. Dan Groth claimed third again. McGurer was also the only double class winner of the weekend, adding the 250cc class win on Sunday. His 2.686 second time on his KX250 in the first round stood up for the win, ahead of runner-up Jon Creek who posted a 2.917 second time on his RM250. Matt Peters was third in 2.936 seconds on his

Honda. In youth action, Andy Fortner claimed the 85Jr class win and the Youth Fast time award Saturday night. His 3.170 second first round time on his CR85 was only two thousandths of a second quicker than Levi Peters on his KX85. In Sunday action, Jonathan Brian came from behind to overtake both Fortner and Peters for the 85Jr class win and the Youth Fast Time. Fortner took the first round lead with a 3.452 second run, and Peters slipped under that with a 3.354 second time on his second ride. Brian then flew his YZ85 over in 3.343 seconds to take the class win by nine thousandths of a second, claiming the class win and Youth Fast Time trophy. In other youth class action, Brodie Bennett claimed the 50cc class win both days with Alivia Young second Saturday and Jaydn Aliprandini second on Sunday. Derick Bell was the 65cc class winner both days. Jacob Bell was the best in the 85Sr class Saturday with Dakota Watson second, while Skyler Rohr took the win Sunday with Bell second.
