It has been a couple of months since I have written anything. This has been one of the busiest springs I’ve experienced. It looks to be slowing somewhat. Our numbers for the early events have been a little higher than last year. This is good and I hope a sign of us getting back to where we were prior to the economic crunch. Our membership numbers are just a bit ahead of last year at this time so again we are hopeful we will see this trend continue. All of you out there that have street bikes, put aside Saturday the 22nd of September. A few of us are putting together the First Annual Ride for Rights tour. We will have a route through the beautiful Bluff Country of Southeast Minnesota. The proceeds will go to our legislative fund which supports lobbyist and legislative efforts. D23 is the only organization in MN that has a lobbyist working for the rights of motorcycle riders and racers. Look for more info in the near future. I would also like to take a few sentences to pay tribute to and honor one our members that passed away recently. Dale Howard was a late comer to our sport. He started racing and attending events with his son Garret about eighteen months ago. In that time Dale became a hard core racer at heart, and gave the sport everything he had. He was fun, dedicated and a sincere family man. For those that knew him and had the pleasure of spending time with him he will be sorely missed. Our hearts and prayers go out to his sons and new grandchild. We will miss his smiling face at the tracks and in the pits. On The Cover:

Announcements, personal stuff, and.... Also watch the web site closely as there will be several fund raising events coming up so our community can help his sons meet unexpected expenses. Godspeed Dale, somehow I can see you up there turning the clouds into triples. Whatever you ride and race, enjoy every minute of it. Stay in shape and stay alert, especially if you ride on the road. I’m hoping to see each of you on the tracks, trails and roads of Minnesota before the end of the 2012 season. Ride hard. Mike Sunset Ridge MX to host First Annual 1617 Motocross Reunion The history of Motocross in Districts 16 & 17 will be celebrated on August 4th at Sunset Ridge MX, Walnut Illinois. The day will include a full Midwest VMX Vintage Race on the grass track, a two hour open practice on the Motocross track, followed by the reunion party. There will be special guests, a BBQ and corn boil and a vintage bike display, with family fun for all ages! All this followed by more racing on Sunday using the big (regular) mx track. Classes will be available for all riders both days, bikes and minis.
