T
he fifth round of the Nuclear Series out at Motorsports Park in Byron IL got underway, and it was a steamy hot day as so many have been this month, but it certainly didn’t stop anyone from giving it their best. Today we had 34 classes between the hilltop and legacy tracks, making for lots of races and plenty of action. It hadn’t rained around Byron for a couple weeks, and speaking with track owner Aaron he let me know they had been watering the track since Thursday to get it perfect for today’s race, and it certainly was! There was a good turnout for the Women’s class, and it made for some great action out on the track. In the first moto Alyssa Haling took the win with Kali Wald second, and Briann
Stiles in third. At the start of the second moto, hot off the line Taylor Venning took the holeshot leading Haling and Stiles. Venning had having some issues and dropped back to third coming down the big hill with Haling moving into first and Stiles second. The next lap around Venning pulled off the track moving Wald up to third place. They came across the line with Haling taking the win and first place overall, Stiles second and Wald in third for third overall. +40 was another class to watch today with some great action out in the heat. Roy Nafzger won the first Sanders ripping moto as Paul Marescalco Daniel some of the soft Byron soil. finished second ahead of his brother Mark. Coming was Mark Marescalco and James up to the line for the second moto Coons in third. Coming around the gates dropped and Nafzger on the last lap Coons finally took the holeshot and never found the opening he was looklooked back. Right behind him ing for and took over second
place. Nafzger took first overall wining both motos. Coons took second overall with 4-2 finishes and Mark Marescalco (3-3). +In 55 we had seven riders
