awkeye Downs was the place to be on June 23rd as there was a consistent flow of fans and riders through the gates. Another competitive night of racing was underway as soon as practice was complete. The track was watered and groomed, and quite inviting to the racers ready to take it on. The starting gate was dropped for the Quad 90 CVT, and as they shot out to kick off an exciting race #99 Gage Beebe took his position in the front, consistently taunted by Roderick Philipp. Brycen Messer and Austin Hayes were close behind, pushing the first two even more. In the first moto Philipp made no mistakes and made sure Beebe knew he was there. Beebe finished first with Philipp second and Messer third. The second moto quickly proved to be an exciting one. Beebe again kept the lead with Philipp streamlining behind him and never letting him get content in his position. Clayton Pacha came back from a glitch in the first moto that kept him from finishing. Pacha took the third spot from Messer. All in all it
was a great race with Beebe winning, Philipp taking second place and Messer securing third. When the green light gave the go ahead for the SuperMini class, Jaden Wertz ripped off the gate and took the holeshot, deciding he was keeping his spot. Travis Larson and Jesse Aitchison were in their own encounter, fighting over second. Larson inserted himself into the position and kept Aitchison at bay for the remainder of the race. When the start of the second moto kicked off, Wertz took off and gained an impressive lead, and kept a good distance to take the overall victory. Larson and Aitchison had their own war again, and ended the night with a repeat of the first moto. Wertz took his win with Larson securing second place. With this still only the beginning of the summer series and with August, September and October to go, there is more than enough anticipation for the next race, but make sure you make it out, and don’t miss any of it.
