JOIN TEAM CURVE

WELCOME! from the Chief Executive & Artistic Director

Thank you very much for your interest in Curve and for wanting to work with us. Curve is a spectacular state-of-the-art theatre based in the heart of the Leicester’s vibrant Cultural Quarter. Opened in 2008 by Her Majesty The Queen, our award-winning building was designed by acclaimed architect Rafael Viñoly. Our theatre is an incredibly exciting place to work: no two days are the same, there is a lot to challenge us, but the job satisfaction that comes from seeing our own produced work on stage, on tour and the buzz of a building full of happy customers, is second to none. Over 700,000 people a year engage with Curve through performances and projects at our home in Leicester, across the UK and internationally. We have developed a reputation for producing, programming and touring a bold and diverse programme of musicals, plays, new work, dance and opera. All of this is presented alongside a dynamic mix of community engagement, artist development and learning programmes, which firmly places audiences, artists and communities at the heart of everything we do.

We are a registered charity (number 230708) and this supports our work with people of all ages and backgrounds, enabling them to access, participate in and learn from the arts, nurturing new and emerging talent and creating outstanding, award-winning theatrical experiences. Unlike any other theatre in the UK, we have no traditional backstage area. Audiences can enjoy the full theatre making process, peek behind the scenes and maybe even spot an actor or two dashing from the stage to their dressing room or enjoying a coffee in our Café. Our curved façade is made from 1,192 tonnes of steel and 46000m² of glass. At the heart of our theatre is ‘Team Curve’ – the extraordinary group of individuals who make magic happen every day in our building and within our local community and beyond. We recognise the importance of nurturing and developing people across all areas of our organisation, and we are always excited to bring new talent into our building. Come join us.

To be recognised as a theatre of national and international significance.

OUR MISSION

Curve is a leading producing theatre located in the heart of Leicester’s Cultural Quarter. We are dedicated to making and programming world class performances for everyone who lives, works and learns in our unique city and beyond.

OUR AIMS Grow Curve’s reputation as a leading producer of theatre and a space to present world class performances. • Establish Curve on Tour as a major producer of national and international touring work. • Build Curve’s role as an incubator for artist development, shaping the artistic landscape for BAME practitioners and those from harder to reach backgrounds. Develop and deepen our reach by ensuring Curve remains a place where everyone can engage with the arts. • Develop the diversity of our audiences and attract more visitors to Curve. • Ensure people of all ages and abilities can take part in artistic activities. • Use data, insight and evaluation to inform audience development plans and artistic decision making. Strengthen our financial model with a flexible approach to maximising income streams. • Develop a fundraising culture across the organisation and with audiences ensuing year on-year growth on income targets and net contribution. • Invest in our buildings and technical facilities. Build Curve’s reputation as a leader in both our city and industry. • Establish Curve as an excellent employer of choice.

VALUES

At the heart of our theatre is an exceptional team. We celebrate our differences, but we all share the core values:

CREATIVITY Nurturing imagination and talent to produce excellence.

COMMUNITY Working together to enrich the lives of our audiences, communities, colleagues and ourselves.

RESPECT Valuing the qualities, opinions and experience of those around you.

TRUST Believing in what we do, the people we do it with, and the work we create.

INSPIRE Be excited, inclusive and enthusiastic, encouraging others to achieve extraordinary things.

“The reason I love working at Curve is because of the outreach work we do into the local community and how we are able to make theatre accessible for everyone. I like the fact we have such a variety of shows, from big musicals to intense dramas. Everyone who works at Curve is always friendly and helpful and is such a great team to be a part of.” Lee Hunt, Sales & Data Manager “Working at Curve is amazing. Being part of the theatre and seeing amazing shows is one thing, but being able to go behind the scenes and see how the shows are brought to life is another thing altogether. The constant variety of things going on suits my personality – nothing stays the same and I like the changing environment. Yes, it gets busy a lot of the time. Yes, sometimes the long hours make me tired. Would I recommend working at Curve to anyone – absolutely.” David Ross, Head of Hospitality & Business Relations “When I first started working at Curve, I was warmly embraced and welcomed by the staff. As a new member of the company and part-time resident of Leicester, this response was very uplifting and helped me to settle in naturally. If you come to the building often you’ll notice how frequently the interior changes to reflect the various shows, and events, that happen here. When you work in the building you get to experience, and sometimes be involved in, the process which keeps the working environment interesting – you also learn a great deal about other departments which is very helpful for your own professional development. As Curve grows, so do you and working here continues to inspire me to reach new heights.” Charity Muiruri, Youth & Community Practitioner.
