POST RUT DEER TACTICS

Harvesting trophy bucks is no easy task and especially after the rut when they have ceased chasing does. Deer hunters know that the best opportunity to get that huge buck is when they let their guards down and this is at its highest during the rut. When that season ends it takes some more strategic plans to land the wise old man. - P 19

Jackson City Court “Community Service workers” litter program

The City of Jackson’s Judge Blake Anderson court allows over 2,500 people annually opportunities to work in community service in lieu of serving jail time behind bars.

This program is one of the successful “community service programs” in the state. Judge Anderson’s court allows certain misdemeanor offenders to work with litter and trash clean up assignments within the City instead of serving jail time. These assignments are working with litter clean up crews in the city supervised by JPD officers and city court staff.

Last week the community service workers cleaned the area around the Care Center and the Safe Hope Center. Community service court assigned workers are a valuable critical part of the city’s keep beautiful efforts. Tons and tons of litter are cleaned up and taken to the landfill weekly by Judge Blake Anderson’s program.

While speaking to several of the community service workers, Natasha said “Judge Anderson gave me the opportunity to work and help clean up litter in areas of Jackson. I learned a valuable lesson for my mistake and was able to contribute to the city’s clean up and not being put in jail being away from my family. Jackson City Court helped save my family, my job and my life by giving me an opportunity to correct my mistake.”

Jackson City Court Judge Blake Anderson first elected in 1997, has been the visionary by creating programs such as the Recovery court, environmental court and community service sentencing which has been one of the most successful in the country. Judge Anderson grants over 2,500 charged offenders opportunities to work out their sentences instead of serving jail time.

TORY LANEZ FOUND GUILTY IN MEG THEE STALLION SHOOTING

NNPA NEWSWIRE

December 25, 2022 By Stacy M. Brown, NNPA Newswire Senior National Correspondent @StacyBrownMedia

Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez - https://news.sky.com/

Canadian rapper Tory Lanez faces more than 20 years in prison and deportation after a jury in Los Angeles found him guilty in the 2020 shooting of hip hop star Megan Thee Stallion.

Lanez, 30, was found guilty of three felony counts, including assault with an unregistered semiautomatic weapon, carrying a loaded gun, and discharging a firearm in a vehicle with gross negligence.

The case fired up social media and highlighted the misogyny that still reigns in hip hop. Many on Twitter routinely attacked Megan, accusing her of lying among other vicious vitriolic comments.

The 27-year-old Megan, whose real name is Megan Pete, testified that Lanez offered her hush money and didn’t care about her injuries and pain suffered because he shot her.

Lanez, who declined to testify, claimed there was another shooter, Pete’s friend who was also arguing with the hit maker as they drove home from a party.

“[Lanez] told me to dance,” Pete told the jury, adding that he also cursed at her following the shooting.

Sentencing for Lanez is scheduled for Jan. 27.

“You showed incredible courage and vulnerability with your testimony despite repeated and grotesque attacks that you did not deserve,” Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon said, referring to Pete.

“You faced unjust and despicable scrutiny that no woman should ever face, and you have been an inspiration to others across LA County and the nation.”

Man told deputies he killed his stepfather

by: David Royer - wreg.com

Posted: Dec 27, 2022

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 23-year-old man is accused of shooting his stepfather to death, and he told authorities it was because the man was abusing his mother.

Deputies responded the night of Dec. 22 to the 3900 block of Piermont, in an area of the county between Raleigh and Bartlett.

The suspect, Najja Simmons, told dispatchers that he had just shot his stepfather, Johnnie Taylor, according to court records.

Deputies found Taylor, 45, dead on the dining room floor with a bullet wound to his head. A handgun was found in the front yard.

Simmons is charged with first-degree murder. No bond has been set.

TEEN GIRL CHARGED AFTER ROBBERY ATTEMPT TURNS DEADLY

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A couple’s plan to lure a drug dealer into a robbery instead ended with a man shot dead and his girlfriend facing a list of felony charges.

According to a confession given to Memphis Police, Kerryoni Brown and her boyfriend Jaylon Faulkner had a plan to rob a drug dealer she knew through Facebook.

They allegedly lured the man by setting up “an honest drug deal,” a court document states.

But when the dealer pulled up to a house on Leacrest in the Westwood neighborhood in the early morning of Dec. 20, Faulker brandished a gun.

Someone inside the dealer’s vehicle then fired several shots, striking Faulker. He was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead. 12-29-22 CSENEWS

first fruits

The name Kwanzaa is derived from the phrase “matunda ya kwanza” which means “first fruits” in Swahili. Each family celebrates Kwanzaa in its own way, but celebrations often include songs and dances, African drums, storytelling, poetry reading, and a large traditional meal.

For The Consideration Of Poets

where is the poetry of resistance, the poetry of honorable defiance unafraid of lies from career politicians and business men, not respectful of journalist who write official speak void of educated thought without double search or sub surface questions that war talk demands?

where is the poetry of doubt and suspicion not in the service of the state, bishops and priests, not in the service of beautiful people and late night promises, not in the service of influence, incompetence and academic clown talk?

Dr.

Merry Christmas! Happy Kwanzaa!

From the shallow shopping days, Of Christmas spent. And gifts selected... To induce an increased seduction. With the onslaught of ornament productions.

May they take these memories... And wish those feelings that excited them, Remain.

Especially during times... That find all who cherish these ‘things’. Keep within their hearts to discover... The thankfulness and joy, Others to them bring!

Merry Christmas! Happy Kwanzaa! And joyous times to those, Who are grateful and know... They are among the blessed!

However this tradition is done, That brings those around the world... To address their happiness! And fun shared with everyone.

“Let life know you know it! If you don’t life will not know you!”

POST RUT DEER TACTICS

Cont’d from page 2

Late season bucks have changed their patterns because of hunting pressure as well as running themselves ragged from chasing does. Bucks usually return to comfort zones after the breeding season.

Deer have very sensitive noses and it is important to kill the human scent before entering the woods. They can smell far off when you don’t even see them so being downwind is vital. Hunters go as far as not wearing deodorant and not bathing with soap because of the unnatural smell.

Bucks may return to their pre-rut routes once the rut has ended.

Many times rattling is affective in bring them close to you because mature bucks will go to an area if they think two other bucks are fighting near by. It is best to rattle on a calm day when they can hear the sound from far off. Rattle for a while then stop to listen a minute before starting to rattle again.

Try to be as still as possible because bucks can get close before you realize it and be smelling your scent or actually see you.

There is one month left in the deer season to harvest the trophy buck in West Tennessee.
