Until now, the flight connection between San José and Managua was only offered by TACA and Copa airlines, this partially causing very high ticket prices. The two airlines now get a competitor: The Costa Rican airline, Nature Air, offers, from March on, four flights a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) from San José via Liberia to Managua. The cheapest fare is 202 dollars including tax.

Costa Rica can also look back on 2010 as a successful tourist year: for the second time in its history, more than 2 million visitors came in the country which is an increase of 9,2% compared to 2009.

In Geneva, the Airport Council International (ACI) has elected it to the third-best Latin America and Caribbean airport. Cancun and Guayaquil got the first places. Compared to last year in the category “biggest progress”, they even made the jump onto the first place. Worldwide, 1650 airports in 179 countries are associated in the Airport Council International.

s hat sich offenbar gelohnt, dass die neuen Betreiber des Flughafens Santamaria mehrere Millionen in den Ausbau des Flughafens gesteckt haben. In Genf wurde er nun vom Airport Council International (ACI) zum drittbesten Flughafen Lateinamerikas und der Karibik gewählt. Die vorderen Plätze belegten Cancun und Guayaquil. In der Kategorie „größte Fortschritte“ im Vergleich zum Vorjahr gelang sogar der Sprung auf den ersten Platz. Im Airport Council International sind weltweit 1650 Flughäfen in 179 Ländern vereinigt.
