This qualification requires work placement of 60 hours to be conducted within your current workplace.

The CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support is designed for support workers who work within the disability industry in a range of community settings or client's homes. At this level, workers promote a personcentred approach, work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team. The CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support can lead to a career as a: • Care Worker • Community Disability Support Worker • In Home Respite Care Worker • Residential Care Worker • Accommodation Support Worker • Support Worker. The CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support is a nationally recognised training qualification delivered by our industry experienced and qualified trainers.

Work Placement Entry Requirements There are entry requirements for students who wish to enrol in this course. Students who hold the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) are eligible to enrol. Students who hold the CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability PLUS the CHCSS00125 Entry to Certificate IV in Disability Support Skill Set are eligible to enrol. Students need the language, literacy, numeracy (LLN) and digital technology skills to meet industry requirements and physical fitness to undertake relevant tasks such as manual handling, shift work and repetitive tasks. Student's LLN skills will be assessed at course commencement. Students who require additional LLN support to successfully undertake the study program may be given assistance at a local level. We recommend all students are currently working in the Disability Support industry.

Assessments and Course Completion

Students will be assessed using a mix of written knowledge assessments, research projects and practical skills demonstrations in class and during work placement. A 'competent' outcome in all assessments is required for the qualification to be issued.
