There are many instances in life when we stop and think about who we are, where we come from, and where we are heading. There are essential questions with or without answers that reveal themselves in many different shapes and colors painting pictures as we progress through life, the ups and the downs. For this edition of the AP with WE Service project, the question of identity arose as both a starting and a ending point that connects a group of students from two different schools in an exploration around the battling shades of identity. A project that encompasses service learning, collaboration, self-exploration, and application of knowledge and skills to the real world, “WE ARE ONE” served as a place for artists to dig, connect, and create. We hope you enjoy the works of art presented here, and if you find yourself unmoved, at least they can make you stop and think and connect to the various messages and interpretations of self that these students were moved by and communicated here. WE ARE ONE: The Journey

WHY?/OBJECTIVE: To create an installation art where students from CNG and CFNG get together to create self-portraits that contain traces of each other, as a way to reflect upon what things connect them as human beings, even despite their differences. WHAT?/ FINAL PRODUCT: A series of large-scale printed photographs, created by students from both CNG and CHNG, that will be placed on the pavement at different strategic landmarks that connect the way between CNG and CFNG. An audio-visual record of the installation, showing how the artpiece is transformed throughout time. HOW/ PROCESS: Students from both schools will get together throughout the semester to socialize, plan, create, and reflect on a work of art that consists of self-portraits that contain traces of each other, as follows: Students from each school will partner up with another student Each student will create a set of self portraits, exploring the concept of “identity� The group will consider a path that unites both schools, with specific landmarks to intervene with the art pieces The group will come up with a list of artists as references to their work Students from CNG will tutor students from CFNG, teaching them the notions of photography and design that they have learned in their AP 2D Design class CNG students will also mentor CFNG students in the creation of their self-portraits 6
