Scrapbook a story that developed over time to add greater interest and impact for your viewers, like Kelly Goree did on her layout about her son’s football championship. Question #6 inspired Kelly to emphasize the important detail of her story. Though a big deal on its own, this particular championship was her son’s fifth in a row, which makes the answer to this question and the layout about it that much more remarkable. Try scrapbooking about repeated or ongoing accomplishments that you or members of your family achieved last year—even if you’ve scrapbooked about those same talents or special skills before—for unique stories in your scrapbooks.
Use embellishments to reinforce and really bring home an important detail of your story, like Kelly did with the number 5. Since this
layout celebrates her son’s fifth consecutive football championship, Kelly added embellishments in fives—five number 5s in the title and five star accents—to really tout her son’s big achievement.

STAMP KISSING TECHNIQUE
Give new definition to your stamped images using stamp kissing—a fun technique in which you stamp one stamp onto another. You can use this technique to create dual-color stamped images, or to give solid stamps a pattern or texture, as Kim Watson did on her layout.

Start your romantic layout with an intricate patterned paper, like Noel Culbertson did, to set an elegant tone. Romantic patterns to look for include damask, floral, oriental, vintage typeface or script, pinstripe, or flourishes. Then add a variety of paper types and weights to your layout that fit your personality and romantic style. Try layering doilies, coffee filters, tissue paper, paper flowers, or even cardboard to embellish your layout and achieve a rich, textured look. Noel kept her paper products au naturel, but you can go the extra mile and ink your paper products to match your romantic color scheme.
