Altered Forms

Challenge Level 2-5

Continue practicing technique, while incorporating exciting design elements to make your work unique! Wheel-thrown or hand-built vessels can be altered to create decorative utilitarian objects or engaging sculptural works Experiment with texture, surface quality and combining thrown and hand-built pieces to find new forms . Course fee does not include the cost of clay or additional drop-in time.

Advancing Your Pottery

Challenge Level 3-5

Don’t let your skills slow down! Keep trying new approaches and reach new heights in your ceramic practice Class will focus on new throwing techniques, working more efficiently, making hand-made tools, and creatively dealing with issues that may arise . Monoprint Slip Transfer Workshop

Challenge Level 2-3

Add some flair to your wares by learning to monoprint on clay! Instruction will include creating simple line designs and painting with colored slips to create your own creative designs . Your unique decoration will then be easily transferred to a leather hard piece to be clear glazed after bisque firing If you’re tired of simple glaze dips and ready to take your design to the next level, this is the workshop for you!

SLIP DECORATING: INLAY & SGRAFFITO

Challenge Level 2-4

Slip Inlay and Sgraffito are classic techniques for adding imagery to your pottery . Sgraffito involves coating your ware with slip and carving it away, slip inlay involves carving into your ware and then laying slip into the carved design A third technique, resist inlay, adds wax resist to the equation . Bring three leather hard pieces to the first class to try all three techniques .

Soda Firing Workshop

Challenge Level 3-5

Achieve a new range of texture and color by firing your pieces with sodium carbonate, which vaporizes in the kiln and settles on pieces below with great results!

Participation optional: Registration fee is required; the remaining balance is due on the day of unloading and is based on the number and size of pots fired. Additional instructions will be on your receipt.
