VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT Meet Christina Chase

Volunteers like Christina make the classroom experience special for our young pottery students . She brings to the role a passion for art and years of experience working in graphic design . Working alongside other Washington Heights instructors, Christina helps in our pottery class for our youngest ceramicists, ages 6-9 .

Washington Heights Art Center, which was once an early 20th century schoolhouse, is today a welcoming and creative space for the Lakewood community . Patrons can register for classes and workshops for all abilities for pottery, weaving, drawing, painting, fibers, jewelry and metals, mosaics and more .

Every year, Washington Heights hosts its much-anticipated Holiday Art and Pottery Sale . This year the sale will take place on Dec . 9 from 10 a .m . to 3 p .m . The sale features work from students and instructors . It’s an opportunity to support local artists and find a truly unique holiday gift . Volunteers play a big role in the Holiday Art and Pottery Sale—from greeting shoppers to helping carefully wrap purchases . It’s a fun way to get involved and give back to the community around the holidays .
