ABOUT THE COLLEGE SMK Fomra Institute of Technology (SMKFIT) was founded by MotilalKanhaiyalalFomra Charitable Trust with the sole aim of imparting education that thoroughly prepares students for a professional career in any field of their choice. The college was established in the year 2001 and is affiliated to Anna University Chennai. It is an ISO 9001:2015 certified Institution. The institution is located at Rajiv Gandhi Road (OMR) spread over a sprawling area of 25 acres near Kelambakkam, Chennai. SMK Fomra Institute of Technology offers 6 Undergraduate Programmes viz. B.E. in Bio-Medical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering and 4 Postgraduate Programmes viz. M.E. in VLSI Design, Computer Science and Engineering, Power Systems Engineering and Thermal Engineering. The institution is well supported by highly qualified teaching, non-teaching and ad ministerial staff. The college is provided with Infrastructural facilities as stipulated by the approving statutory body, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The Department of Civil Engineering at SMKFIT was started in the year 2011 with an aim to undertake cuttingedge research, and convert results into the next generation infrastructure development, in teaching engineering science, analysis, and design within the context of integrating engineering with development of society. This department is home to faculty of excellence, exceptional students and laboratories engaged in an array of interdisciplinary civil engineering activities ABOUT CONFERENCE The National Conference NCRTCE-18 is a bridge to improve the quality of life. The theme of the conference remarks the central role of Civil engineering in the improvement and innovation to the society and also focuses on how to implement the advancetechnologies, devices in the development of infrastructure.
