The “White Dove of the Desert” was built between 1783 and 1797, and is the oldest European structure in Arizona. The Mission is considered one of the finest examples of Spanish Colonial architecture in the United States. It is named after Francis Xavier, the co-founder of the Society of Jesus (Jesuit order of priests and brothers). Docent tours of this remarkable building are available. The Mission is located about 10 miles south of Tucson. 1950 West San Xavier Road, Tucson SanXavierMission.org
