God’s Plan in Philippians 2:4, “Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.” In Genesis 2:18, “The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.’” Our focus should be on finding ways to serve another, if that were the case, I don’t think our “purpose” would ever come into question. We need each other. If you are questioning what on earth you are here for, maybe you haven’t been still enough to listen. God will provide opportunities, each and every day, if you will just allow Him to use you. It might be at your job or at the grocery store, but the opportunity will be there. And, your purpose today might look different from your purpose tomorrow. You can make a difference in someone’s life, and it doesn’t matter who you are, what your title is, or where you come from. What truly matters is WHO you are working FOR. “Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people,” Ephesians 6:7. Always look for opportunities to bless others, and the blessing you will get from doing that is far beyond anything that money can buy. Hebrews 13:16 says, “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” I have found that the best thing I can do if I am having a bad day is to find a way to invest in someone,
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
and that replaces that negative feeling with a joyful one, simply by taking the focus off of me and knowing I played a part in making a difference in the life of someone else. I’m beyond grateful that God chose me that day, and it still makes me laugh that He used a hotdog to do it. The impact that man had on my life is pretty amazing, considering I spent less than an hour with him that day. I often wonder what ever happened to him, and I pray that he is well and his needs are still being met. I would guess he probably doesn’t even remember that I crossed his path, but that’s ok. It’s not about me after all. It’s about doing what God needs me to do, when He needs me to do it. That’s what I’m here for after all. Next time you find yourself questioning why you are here, be still and listen to God and He will show you what His purpose for you will be in His perfect timing.
