“Creating, not to know who one is, but may be what or who one is becoming. Tamar’s drawings are an experimental description of a mutation. What or who are we during this endless process? Growing into an organic structure, whose roots disperse while having a great hold on the earth, a living being, serene like a tree, with a sharp contour but whose inner nature seethes, an empty space marked with the stamp of an absent one. Strange feeling of aspiration and of dizziness born from this emptiness, and strange feeling opposite and also vigorous of fullness, abundance, intensity, when the background of the drawing fills the existing space and transforms it in a matrix of energies.�

Christophe Dillinger Frenchman living in UK I have exhibited work in France, England and the USA. I have recently published a book, Camera Visibilum and I am working on another one, coming out in April. I practice WYSIWIGOTN (What You See Is What I Got On The Negative) photography. My work presented are images taken from the series “Typewriter” and is about absence, about the time when things don’t match or fail to meet. And that’s life too, my dear. The images are scans of negatives on which I have typed using a second hand typewriter and corrective liquid. No Photoshop was used during the elaboration of these images. cdillinger.co.uk

Carpaccio Magazine: Cuéntanos algo sobre ti Eudes: Soy Eudes, 25 años, vengo de una pequeña ciudad cerca de la metrópoli São Paulo y hoy vivo en Barcelona, donde vine para dedicar mis estudios de posgrado a la fotografía. Soy bastante tranquilo, me gusta los días grises y el frío, un café solo para una mirada por internet, la musica, salir de fiestas con los amigos, caminar por la calle en los domingos.... Estudié Graphic Design en la Universidade Estadual de Londrina (UEL). Desde muy jóven he tenido contacto con el “arte” de alguna manera. Ya escribí para un zine y tuve un conjunto anarcopunk, he tocado en un grupo de metal-straight-edge, tuve mi fase grunge, fui tecnico de sonido en un bar, he tocado en un grupo en que hacíamos “cover” de otros, salí de gira con un conjunto de hillbilly y hoy hago IDM/Hip Hop en mi ordenador mientras hago mis proyectos de fotografia. O sea, ya he vivido en unos extremos y también siempre tuve una ligación con la 30 Carpacciomagazine
música, esta que hasta hoy hace parte de mi vida. CM: ¿Por qué la fotografía? Eudes: Mi interés por la fotografía creo que surgió con el rollo de la musica y los video clips que siempre tuve contacto y, más precisamente, cuándo empecé a ver los videos de skate más o menos por mis 12 años de edad, mientras yo patinaba y tenía todos mis amigos de este medio. En verdad, empiezé a desarollar mi gusto por el cine/video pero no sabia exactamente lo que me molaba, y, con el tiempo, he percebido que habia ligación con lo visual. A menudo yo pretendía estudiar cine, pero al final, acabé en una universidad de diseño. Fue en la universidad de diseño que decidí dedicarme a la fotografía, pues resultó la manera más cercana que he encontrado del aspecto visual del cine de lo cuál me gusta. Carpacciomagazine 31
CM: ¿De dónde sacas la inspiración? Eudes: Siempre que me voy a fotografiar me inspiro en la iluminación y dirección de alguna pelicula o, principalmente en este caso, para tener alguna idea de lo que hacer, me fijo en algun video, que sea un largo o un corto, un video de skate, de publicidad, casero, un video clip, lo que sea. Creo que con el video me quedo cien por cien concentrado en lo que estoy mirando, 32 Carpacciomagazine
dejando interiorizar la musica, los sentimientos y así casi siempre me viene una inspiración. Me pongo como un desafío (y esto es lo que me mola) contar una história en imágenes fotográficas, o sea, momentos congelados. Dejar una imágen con la sensación de que se está pasando alguna acción y, ponendo en una serie, crear una narración, de alguna manera. CM: ¿Cuáles son tus influencias? Eudes: Tengo muchas influencias de distintos fotógrafos, productores y directores. Para no dejar de decir unos nombres, puedo subrayar estos que para mí son los más importantes, Spyke Jonze y Michel Gondry.

CM: Ya hemos visto que a parte de ser un fotógrafo muy creativo, eres también un fotógrafo que domina la técnica. ¿Crees que la técnica es más importante que la inspiración? ¿Crees que una buena técnica puede disimular falta de creatividad? ¿Qué es más difícil de conseguir, la técnica o la inspiración? Eudes: Me gusta ver a todos los tipos de imágenes, desde las más complejas técnicamente hasta las completamente sin ninguna preocupación con esto. A veces hay una buena idea y para hacerla la mejor manera es hacer sin técnica o, quizás, para parecer que no tuvo esta preocupación. Creo que el hecho de mis imágenes siempre tener alguna demostración de técnica viene del momento en lo cuál estoy haciendo las imágenes. No veo la técnica como una regla a ser seguida. La uso como inspiración en el momento de fotografiar y esto me da una cierta “adrenalina”. No sé exactamente por qué, pero és así que funciona conmigo. Carpacciomagazine 35

CM: ¿Algún consejo a fotógrafos emergentes? Eudes: Esto es complicado para decir así de golpe, pero, puedo aconsejar a todos que crean algo a seguir sus convicciones, mirar referencias y no dejarse llevar demasiado por las tendencias, pues estas van y vienen. Si tienes una idea en la cual te gusta, hazla. CM: ¿Cuál ha sido la experiencia más divertida como fotógrafo? ¿Y la más triste? Eudes: Cada ensayo tiene sus momentos. No recuerdo exactamente una situación específica, pero, me gusta cuando desde un ensayo me queda alguna cosa como un amigo, una história, unas risas... He hecho muchos amigos y he aprendido muchas cosas buenas con la fotografia y pienso que esto es lo hay de mejor para se recordar. Lo más triste es cuando, de todo, no se 38 Carpacciomagazine

Eudes: Lo que me gustaria añadir es que Cássia, mi novia y super compañera, está siempre presente, hace parte de toda la investigación y siempre tenemos las ideas y inspiraciones juntos. Empiezamos juntos la universidad y fue con ella que desarollé todo mi interés por la fotografía, design y cine. Es bastante practica y solo ella sabe lo que ya pasamos para hacer fotografía. Así se queda un poco complicado hablar “mi trabajo”, si no, deberia ser “nuestro trabajo”. //

Right now I live in a small academic town being suffocated in snow and ice, Akademgorodok, which is thirty minutes away from Novosibirsk, which is situated in the middle of Siberia, which is a region sleeping in central Russia. But, no, I’m not Russian. My parents moved here a year and a half ago from Jackson, Mississippi to start an international school.
