People Power In July, BBP welcomed Gregg Burks as the new Buffalo Bayou Park Director. Hailing from Texas, Gregg previously served as Director of Operations at Atlanta’s Piedmont Park where he led a $46 million expansion. Gregg will eventually supervise a staff of 20 full-time employees and seasonal crews to ensure that Buffalo Bayou Park is well maintained.

Communicating with the Community —C ontinuing to seek community input and keep the public informed of Buffalo Bayou Park’s progress has been a BBP priority. Over 100 people attended a fall meeting where project consultant Guy Hagstette answered questions and received the public’s feedback on park construction. —T o get the word out about Buffalo Bayou Park’s improvements, BBP hosted a series of informal gatherings for residents living along the bayou. —“ Walk and Talks,” Saturday morning informal events held at the “dog park” off Allen Parkway, also helped spread the word about Buffalo Bayou Park’s transformation.
