BUFFALO BAYOU PARK Significant and awe-inspiring progress took place at Buffalo Bayou Park from Shepherd Drive to Sabine Street in 2013. In cooperation with our partners, Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) and Houston Parks & Recreation Department, park enhancements are already making a difference in Houstonians’ lives. On any given day, you will see mothers with strollers, Millennials jogging, and people from all walks of life and countries enjoying the park. Buffalo Bayou Park is truly becoming THE place where people want to be.

In 2010, the Kinder Foundation awarded a catalyst $30 million grant for Buffalo Bayou Park, one of the largest private gifts in the history of Houston’s park system. Buffalo Bayou Partnership is committed to raising the remaining $23 million needed to complete the project. Over the 30-year life of the project, Downtown Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) #3 will contribute $2 million per year for the park’s maintenance and operations.
