The British School in Colombo POLICY ON SIXTH FORM SCHOLARSHIP Guidance Notes There are two types of Scholarship available: Academic Scholarship The Academic Scholarship is awarded to candidates who have shown exceptional academic ability. It is necessary to demonstrate very strong academic credentials by achieving exceptional results in both Scholarship Papers. Subject Scholarships The Subject Scholarship is awarded to students who have a particular academic flair in any one subject. Applicants for subject scholarships will need to demonstrate strong academic ability in at least one of the subjects they wish to study at A level. All candidates should indicate on the application form for which Scholarship they are applying. If an applicant needs clarification on any of the Scholarships, please contact the Registrar or Head of Senior School. Eligibility 1. Offers of scholarships will be made on the basis of results in entrance examination, formal interview and an analysis of past academic results. 2. Scholarships awarded are non-transferable and non-refundable. Applicants will need to demonstrate articulate oral and written English skills, self-confidence, a history of self-motivation and hard work, and an international perspective. Conditions 1. The decision of the selection committee in regards to the offer of scholarship and the level of financial assistance will be final and binding. The decision of the Selection Committee is confidential and must not be discussed with any third party. 2. The school will reserve the right to cancel a scholarship offer at any time for reasonsa) of serious misconduct. b) not adhering to the expected minimum level of academic performance. c) breach of confidentiality.
