Women of Substance Raise Funds for The Mission of Yahweh

GOING VIRTUAL THIS YEAR DIDN'T STOP VIEWERS FROM HEEDING THE CALL TO SUPPORT THE 4TH ANNUAL WOMEN OF SUBSTANCE

EVENT to support The Mission of Yahweh, that has been sheltering homeless women and children for 59 years. Funds raised from the event are nearing $400,000 to provide Mission initiatives to empower, enrich and restore the lives of its residents.

Ernie Manouse, Deborah Duncan, Warner Roberts, Paul-David Van Atta, along with Luncheon Chair, Kristina Somerville served as emcees. They congregated on Roberts' back porch to introduce the honorees and the special guest of the day, Kechi Okwuchi. Janice McNair congratulated all the honorees in a brief appearance on behalf of The Houston Texans, the presenting sponsor of the event and generous contributor of funds to provide a new playground for the children at The Mission of Yahweh.

The Women’s Fund 10th Annual Rockin’ Resiliency Luncheon

WITH SUPPORT FROM LUNCHEON CHAIRS CHRISTINE AND STEVE JOHNSON, THE DYNAMIC EVENT RAISED CLOSE TO $180,000

while celebrating the thousands of women and girls that count on The Women’s Fund for health education information. The Women’s Fund presented Edna Meyer-Nelson as the recipient of the Sue Trammel Whitfield Award for Resiliency and The John P. McGovern Foundation "Champion in Women's Health and Wellness" Award to Kathleen Schmeler, MD.

PlainsCapital Bank presented a lively interview with HEB president Scott McClelland along with luncheon co-chair Steve Johnson of the famed Walton and Johnson Syndicated Radio Show.
