A brief history
The small town of Marlborough, Connecticut was once part of three surrounding towns: Hebron, Glastonbury, and Colchester. As was the way with many towns in Connecticut, land was originally claimed through treaties with Native Americans and many street names and natural landmarks are still named after them today. As the towns grew, some residents began living further and further from the city center, making it difficult to make the journey into town. Through many petitions, Marlborough was finally incorporated in 1803, separating from Hebron. Hebron, being the largest town, always had its own schoolhouses but in 1957, Regional School District 8 opened, giving Hebron its first high school which Andover and Marlborough also shared. Today, the towns are more than just connected by their school, but have become a united community.
