What if a class or program is cancelled?

Customer requested refunds/transfers no later than 7 business days prior to the first day of class. No refunds after first class. No refunds or make-ups for missed days. A processing fee of $7 will be charged for all cancellations after a registration has been processed. If minimum class size is not met by one week prior to the start of class, the class may be cancelled. In the event that the District cancels a class, you will receive a full refund. Outdoor classes are cancelled in the event of lightning.

Mommy/Daddy & Me Soccer (Ages 2-3 ½ yrs.) Introduce your toddler to the World’s Most Popular Game! As you participate together in our fun age appropriate activities, your child will be developing their large motor skills and socialization skills. (Ages 3 ½ - 5 yrs.) Teaches the basic techniques of the game and builds self-esteem through participation and fun soccer activities. Children learn to follow instructions in a nurturing, age appropriate environment. Shin guards are required after the first meeting. All participants will receive a Kidz Love Soccer jersey! Soccer 1: Techniques & Teamwork (Ages 5-6 yrs.) Players will learn dribbling, passing, defense and shooting goals! Fun skill games are played at every session, and every participant will have a ball at his or her feet. Small-sided soccer matches will be introduced gradually. Perfect for first time players while being fun and engaging for kids with some experience. All participants receive a soccer jersey! Shin guards are required after the first meeting. Online Driver’s Ed Course (Ages 15+ yrs.) The DMV allows teens to receive their Learner’s Permit at age 15 1/2, and a license at age 16. This class is the FIRST, required step that must be completed. This is an online course with videos, animated driving scenarios, and sample test questions. Learn the rules of the road, major causes of traffic collisions, DMV procedures and much more. A licensed instructor is available to answer any questions. Receive DMV-approved Certificate of Completion. Sign up any time. Registration is ongoing. YOUTH/TEEN PROGRAMS TENNIS PROGRAMS Tennis classes are designed for beginner through advanced students. Lessons are taught in a fun and positive atmosphere covering basic fundamentals, grips, scoring, movement drills, and of course, lots of fun! DANCE PROGRAMS Tap Dance Blitz

(Teen to JOYS - Just Older Youth) Tap Dance Blitz is a forty-five minute class for beginners to intermediate tap dancers ages teen to JOYS (just older youth). Simple steps to more advanced steps will be taught, warm-ups and small combinations. Tap is fun for everyone. It increases rhythm and coordination for all and helps build the muscle that is first to engage with aiding in fall prevention. Tap shoes are not necessary, flats are acceptable. The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff is proud to partner with the RadKIDS Personal Empowerment and Safety Education Program this summer! The tools and skills learned from this program will allow children the opportunity to make realistic choices concerning overall safety in the world we live in today. Through shared participation, parents of the children involved in the program will also understand those choices. This “free” week long class will be held July 13-17. The 9AM11AM time slot is for ages 5-7, and the 1PM-3PM time slot is for ages 8-12. Space is limited! Dock Address Signs

If you didn’t take advantage of the Dock Sign Program the first time around, here’s your chance to put your address on your dock with a nice new sign that shows guests, and more importantly, first responders where you live. This provides immediate identification for police and/or fire personnel who might respond by water. Knowing the right address could be a life saver. Meet our instructor... Denise Williams, Owner and Director of Fabulous Feet Dance Studio has over 30 years of dance education. Denise has brought dance into the lives of young dancers in the Community of Brentwood and East County. Her training started at Young World of Dance and continued with amazing dance instructors throughout the Bay Area. She was part of a professional dance company, theater group and traveled with the All American Dance Company around the world. She continued her dance training with Joe Tremaine, Doug Caldwell, Jackie Sleight, Karen Stenger and many more, before starting her own studio “Fabulous Feet Dance Studio”. Denise has won many teaching and choreography awards. Many of her students have received scholarships to train with Joffrey Ballet School, Alvin Alley Dance Theater, and countless convention scholarships. Many of her students have gone on to be Professional Dancers, Professional NFL Cheerleaders and Directors, Dance Instructors and Studio Owners. She believes in teaching self confidence in her students as well as install love and appreciation of dance.

In an effort to meet that objective, the Town utilizes Contract Instructors to provide these programs and activities. Many of these contractors currently utilized by the Town, also teach programs and activities in neighboring communities. PROGRAMS Safe Power Boat Handling – US Coast Guard Approved (Ages 13+ yrs.) 2 Day Safe Powerboat Handling/CA Boater’s Card Class. This 16hour hands-on, on-the-water course is for anyone who wants to learn how to safely operate a small motorboat and improve their boat handling skills. No previous experience is required! The US Coast Guard and the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) have approved this course for a State Boating Education Certificate and CA State boating education card. These national and state approvals call for the course to include a total of six to eight hours of classroom sessions covering required education topics. California State Boater’s Card Class (Ages 13+ yrs.) This information packed, classroom session, focuses on California boating laws and safe power boating guidelines. Students will take an open book test at the end of the classroom session, which will fulfill the requirements for the CA Boaters Card application process. From simple to detailed you will be shown how, guided through the outline process and then dive into painting. Make mandala or go for creating a pet rock or the start of a haunted village. The Town of Discovery Bay offers several different rental options for your next community meeting, business meeting, or staff training. The following rooms are available at the Discovery Bay Community Center, 1601 Discovery Bay Blvd.

Arts Room

Looking for a location to hold that large special event such as a Birthday Party, Graduation Party, Family Reunion or a Neighborhood Party? Securing a use permit entitles the user priority over the general public. The following parks are available for hourly, half day (6 hours) or full day rentals. A refundable deposit is required.

Community Center BBQ Area Rental One of the unique and popular features of the Discovery Bay Community Center is the group BBQ and picnic area, located just behind the community pool. This facility has a large brick BBQ, food preparation tables, picnic tables and plenty of shade.

SENIOR SERVICES CONTACT INFORMATION Senior Information & Assistance Program The East County Aging and Adult Services Department provides local assistance to seniors aged 60+, adults with disabilities, and caregivers. Program sessions are by appointment only and cover a variety of topics including referrals and assistance to obtain services. (925) 229-8434

Meals on Wheels Are you 60 years of age or older, homebound and need assistance with daily meals? Call the “Meals on Wheels” program at (925) 625-4545.

Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) HICAP provides free and objective counseling and advocacy services to families who need assistance with Medicare enrollment and with issues involving Medicare and associated insurance programs. For an appointment, call (925) 602-4168.

REFUND POLICY: Customer requested refunds/transfers NO LATER THAN 3 BUSINESS DAYS PRIOR TO THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS. NO REFUNDS AFTER FIRST CLASS. No refunds or make-ups for missed day. A processing fee of $7 will be charged for all cancellations after a registration has been processed. If minimum class size is not met by Wednesday prior to the start of class, the class may be cancelled. In the event that the District cancels a class, you will receive a full refund. Outdoor classes are cancelled in the event of lightning. ASSUMPTION OF RISK, RELEASE, HOLD HARMLESS AND CONSENT TO MEDICAL TREATMENT AND PHOTOS: On behalf of myself and/or any minor child named above, I acknowledge that I am (minor is) in good physical condition to participate in the activity and that accidents and injuries can arise from such participation. Knowing these risks, and in consideration of acceptance of my application, I voluntarily desire to participate (have minors participate) in this activity. I assume all risks and waive and release Town of Discovery Bay and its officers, employees and agents from any claims or liability for personal injury (including death) or property damage arising from or connected with participation in the activity, even if the liability may arise out of the negligence or carelessness of the District or its officers, employees and agents. I further agree to hold harmless, indemnify and defend the District and its officers, employees and agents, who through negligence or carelessness might otherwise be liable to me (or my heirs or assigns). In the event of injury or illness, I consent to and agree to be responsible for transportation to a medical facility and whatever examination, procedure or treatment considered necessary by the medical personnel. This assumption of risk, release and hold harmless is binding on my heirs, dependents, executors, administrators, and assigns. I agree to abide by any rules and regulations for the activity. I give consent to the Town of Discovery Bay Community Services District to photograph or video the participation for any legitimate purpose by the District or the sponsors of an activity.
