Sheherazade

Well hello there Story Seekers, Fable Finders & Legend Lovers I am your guide, your storyteller, your friend, Sheherazade (Zade for short), the weaver of one thousand and one tales. Which shall I tell you today? Ah, yes, Aladdin and The Stolen Stories. Let me start at the very beginning.

Thousands of years ago, a powerful King of the Ancient World decided to hide five stories which each held a lesson, a clue or a secret – “The Stolen Stories”. The King cast a spell to ensure these stories would only reveal themselves to the most honourable, worthy and true, at a moment when they needed them most. They were lost for centuries. Until one day, many years later, not far from where we are now, they would be found. So, here’s where you come in - use this booklet to journey with Aladdin and his friends on a magical adventure. Along the way, complete the puzzles and tasks to help them find The Stolen Stories. If you have access to the internet and a mobile device, scan the QR codes at the top of each page to watch the adventure unfold on screen or visit www.bradfordlitfest.co.uk. To watch The Stolen Stories, download one of our ‘Story Maps’ and explore your local park to discover the QR codes hidden there - there are six Bradford parks to choose from. If you’re isolating - don’t worry! You can use the ‘Stay at Home Story Map’ at the back of this booklet.

Now, let’s begin...

Aladdin has struck a deal with Margo to help recover all five of the mysterious Stolen Stories. The first story, which was baked inside Aladdin’s loaf of bread, was Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves and hidden in the story was a secret password to open The Cave of Curiosity. Aladdin, Margo and Lupe have travelled to the cave to search for treasure and a very special magical lamp. As he searches the cave, Aladdin makes a new friend and begins to wonder whether joining up with Margo was really the best idea …

Aladdin and Genie have used the second Stolen Story, The Jinn and the Fisherman, to trap Margo and escape from The Cave of Curiosity, arriving home in Bradford just in time for Coronation day. They watch as Princess Zade greets her people and Aladdin immediately falls in love, declaring that he will make himself the richest Prince in the world so that she will marry him. But is that really what the princess wants? Princess Zade gives Aladdin the third Stolen Story, hoping that it will teach him a lesson, but Aladdin isn’t listening and with Margo and Lupe close on his heels, our hero might be getting himself into trouble again.

The third Stolen Story, The Three Princes, is fresh in Aladdin’s mind as he sets out to become a Prince to impress the Princess Zade. But has Aladdin really understood the story? Genie doesn’t think so. Never-theless Genie and Aladdin set off to give Aladdin a royal makeover with the help of two mysterious assistants who, if it wasn’t for

Aladdin has been kidnapped and trapped in Margo’s secret dungeon! Lupe, Genie and Princess Zade hatch a plan to rescue him using clues from the final Stolen Stories: The Monkey Poet and Sinbad the Sailor. There is a mighty battle, with magic flying through the air, and Margo offers Aladdin all sorts of treasure if he will help her to win. But in the end Aladdin learns that true riches come from friendship, not from gold and jewels, and proves himself to be the hero we all knew he could be. Thanks to our group of brave friends, all five of the Stolen Stories have now been found and set free for everyone in the world to enjoy.
