Welcome to the July edition of The Felixstowe Magazine At the time of writing there was a full week of amazing weather, it even lasted til Her Majesty’s 90th... but then the monsoon hit us! Hey ho... As always, we have some great articles and events to tell you about. A comprehensive look into both of these can be found on our website: www.thefelixstowemagazine.com. There, we have more news from the community, and on our facebook page lots of beautiful photos from local photographers. In fact, last month we ran a photography competition and hands down, the lovely Carl and Julie Eerrye from Felixstowe, won by taking our cover photo while at the Queen’s 90th birthday parade in London. Well done Carl and Julie. I’d like to make a special mention to Emma, owner of The Wharf. Despite all odds, Emma and her team have gotten the much-loved gift shop back on it’s feet (see ad on p.15) and I’d like to congratulate Emma for being so determined and wish her great success! Delivered by Tony, Michele, Elaine, Brian, Jill, Dean and Richard.

Sponsored Page It’s amazing how many artists there are in Felixstowe. To help showcase them, Kerseys Solicitors have kindly sponsored this page...

Local Artist

Helen Cassells Tell us your name and what kind of art you do...

My name is Helen Cassells, a pine needle weaver. I take long pine needles and weave them around free form ceramics to create one-off works of art. Once the ceramic piece is made then I work on the weaving. Pine needle weaving is slow! A small basket (3x5”) takes about an hour and a half so and a fruit bowl size can take eighteen hours to weave. How did your art take this direction?

Pine needle weaving is ancient. It dates back some nine-thousand years. I came across it in the Bahamas, where I worked as yacht crew and was immediately fascinated by it. The texture of the finished work was also amazing. My work includes a ceramic element to give it another dimension, so it is even more tactile. What inspires your art?

I am always on the look out for pine needles, which means I am very observant of the natural world. And what could be more inspiring than the play of light on a wave or birds soaring in the wind. I enjoy taking my impressions and encompassing them in my art. I draw inspiration from artists who distort perspective or see life through colour. What project have you been particularly proud of?

Taking something from a flash of inspiration through to completion is immensely satisfying. The idea for "Winter Arrivals" of geese coming in to land (bottom left photo) came to me at six in the morning, as I lay listening to their honking, and it worked… pinky orange feet and all. Any claims to fame?

No claim to fame, but I did run away to sea at twenty-three! Where can people see your art or meet you?

My artwork is available at the following galleries: Southwold Gallery (Southwold), Taplin Gallery (Woodbridge), Art House Cafe (Cromer). Plus sometimes I open "Helen's shed," my studio at Felixstowe Ferry. When I am open I put out signs directing people from the entrance of the boatyard. You are also welcome to ring me to arrange a time to visit. What’s your favourite thing about Felixstowe?

I love the people. There is still a sense of caring and community which they create. A rare thing in today's world. If you’d like to see or buy Helen’s art contact her on 0797 5907675 Website (blog): www.helensshed.co.uk Email: helen@helensshed.co.uk Facebook: Helen’s Shed

5 It’s back! July welcomes the much-loved annual Pirates on the Prom! Argghhh!

Ahoy me hearties!

The British Heart Foundation is holding a fancy dress fundraising one mile walk along Felixstowe Promenade on Sunday July 31st at 11.30am to help raise awareness and vital funds for the Mending Broken Hearts Appeal. ‘Pirates on the Prom’ will start from Ocean Boulevard Amusements (opposite the Marlborough Hotel, Sea Road) and head to Martello Park and back, with lots of ahoy-ing and shivering me timbers! It’s a great laugh for the kids and the big kids, ARGH!

Bex continued, “This is why the British Heart Foundation is very important to me and my family. It’s through their important research that lives are being saved and they help make a real difference to those living with heart disease.”

Bex Sheppard, who is organising the event for the 4th year running, along with shipmate Claire Flint, wanted to help the British Heart Foundation as the work and research they have done contributed towards saving her father’s life.

To participate in the Pirate Walk, the cost is £5 for adults. Children under 14 are free. Everyone is welcome to join!

This year the team are very excited to have The Felix Stowaways join them on the day who will be singing some fantastic sea shanties to get the pirates in the mood.

“In 1998, my dad Andy, at the age of 47, suffered a heart attack from which he was brought back to life twice by the medics at Ipswich Hospital. Then in 2012 he suffered an angina attack after which he underwent a coronary angioplasty operation at Papworth Hospital. They fitted dad with a stent in his artery to help relieve the angina symptoms. We are so lucky he is still with us.”

On the event itself, Bex went on to say, “We’ll have a lot of fun on the day while we’re raising awareness and money for a truly worthy cause – you’ll get a pirate hat and there’s also prizes for the best dressed pirates.”

To register please donate the total for your group at: www.justgiving.com/pirates2016 and mention in the message your name and how many adults/children will be joining you or email bex.sheppard44@gmail.com to reserve your place.

You can also visit Pirate Bex and Pirate Claire (pictured above) at the Trimley and Felixstowe carnivals. When you do, be sure to give them a big “AHOY!”

Mystery Shopper Reviewing the latest and greatest of Felixstowe, here’s our Mystery Shopper to bring you her take on the best of our town...

Local Taxis

Where would any town or city be without its taxis? Felixstowe is no exception so this is a shout out to all the dedicated taxi drivers we have here, many of whom can be found waiting for their next fare on the taxi rank opposite The Triangle. Whether your journey is local or further afield, here are some of the options when wanting to take a taxi.

Let’s start with Helpful Cabs. I have found them to do what it says on the label…be helpful. They have vehicles which are specially designed to accommodate wheelchairs, mobility scooters, buggies and the like. They even carry a set of small steps which can be placed on the pavement near the door, so as to help the less mobile in and out of the cab. Their mantra is to allow people who would not normally be so independent have more freedom. They assist with shopping and hospital trips and can even provide a wheelchair if needed. They also allow pets in their vehicles. Then there’s Coastal - Wizard Taxis who have an office at 4 Hamilton Road. Their drivers and operational staff are pleasant and friendly. Their taxis are a familiar sight around our town and, like all good taxi services, they provide private hire as well. Finally, a mention to the self employed taxi drivers around Felixstowe. Many have their regular customers who rely on

them, but they are always willing to take on new customers, may they be those on business trips or here as tourists. Their knowledge of the local area is invaluable and they go about their business in a cheery, accommodating way. So to all who don’t drive or own a car, to all who just want to be taken from A to B without using public transport, or those who just want to sit back and let someone else drive, go on… contact one of Felixstowe’s dedicated taxi drivers or taxi companies and enjoy the views and the banter in comfort. Having used all of the above, they are all equally as good.

David Button Independent Funeral Directors David Button Independent Funeral Directors opened the doors to their funeral home in Walton on 13th July 2015. We caught up with David to tell us more... A year seems to have flown by, it really doesn't seem twelve months has passed from when we had our open week. I would firstly like to say a big thank you to every single family that have entrusted us with their loved one. I have had the real honour of meeting some truly fantastic people and have made many friends along the way. Despite starting up my own funeral home it is without doubt one of the most daunting things I have ever done. The belief we have here is that we simply treat people how we would wish to be treated ourselves. This being from the first moment a family makes that call to us or walks through the door. Every single person that has sadly passed away and comes into our care we treat as if they are a member of our own family. It means so much to us when contacted to carry out the funeral of a person who meant so much to someone.

The feedback we have had from families and mourners has been amazing. All of the team on the day take so much pride in what they do - for me personally everytime I have a funeral it is like an exam for me; the nerves really do kick in and it's a case of making sure we have every wish of the family covered and that all goes to plan. There is only ever one chance to get things right for a funeral. The attention to detail and personal service is, I believe, what puts us in good stead.

We are members of The National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) and often have spot checks on the funeral home to make sure we are complying with the standards they set.

We do have an open door policy here which means families are vey welcome to look at our facilities. Come and visit us anytime. David Button Independent Funeral Directors 225 High Street Walton, IP11 9DT, 01394 200793

9 More news from Jackamans’ budding Solicitor...

A Day in the Life of a Trainee Solicitor I am now back in the office after a very relaxing holiday and the final countdown to qualification has begun. I cannot believe that my training period is nearly over, when it feels like only yesterday that I first joined Jackamans. This month I thought I would cover a topic about which clients often ask – the role of executors. Many people are uncertain as to what this word actually means, let alone what responsibilities come with the title, and clients can therefore be rather anxious when they find out that they have been given this role.

An executor is a personal representative appointed by a will (or codicil) who is responsible for dealing with the assets of the deceased and has the legal authority to do so. If no such persons are appointed, those appointed renounce the role or are unable to act, or there is no valid will, the position of personal representative is determined in accordance with the strict legal rules and the person with the relevant authority is referred to as an administrator rather than an executor. Executors are legally responsible for administering the estate correctly. This can include establishing what assets

were held by the deceased and what liabilities need to be settled, completing an inheritance tax return and paying any tax owed (together with confirming the income tax position), applying to court for a grant of representation, dealing with any claims against the estate, and then ultimately ensuring that beneficiaries receive the legacies due to them. As both executors and administrators can be held personally liable for losses caused by a breach of these duties, even if innocently done, the prospect of acting in these roles can be daunting. It is important however to either face the challenge, with the assistance of a legal representative if appropriate, or formally step aside to ensure that no personal liability is incurred. As always, please feel free to pop in to one of Jackamans’ offices for a chat if you would like more information on this or any other legal matter.

THE FELIXSTOWE TOWN CRIER UPDATES Felixstowe Town and Around News Monday morning the sun is shining and it is warm! After a week of cold winds and cloudy skies it is a pleasure to look outside. My weekend started on Friday morning with a trip over to Harwich on the new ferry. Several people were invited to take the trip and although it was cold and windy it was a pleasurable experience and the new boat is great. Some covered seating and also more at the front and rear of the Ferry make a total seating number of 58. The service is hourly on the half hour starting at 9.30am. and running through to 5.30pm. The adult fare is £4 - children £3. Access across the beach is challenging and efforts are being made through the Landguard Partnership and the operator to find a solution. As I was very cold when the trip ended I visited the Viewpoint Café and had a bowl of hot soup. The café continues to prove a popular venue and the food is excellent. I left feeling warmed and revived! You may have read that under a government scheme buildings like Anzani House can now be converted into living accommodation without the need for planning permission through the local authority. A scheme to create 196 accommodation units was suggested but recently another speculative scheme to demolish the building and use the space for distribution and storage was considered. The feeling of the Town Council planning committee was that this use was in keeping with Port related uses and approved the application. It will be interesting to see which of these two suggested uses of Anzani House goes ahead in the future. A new noise complaints service has been launched by SCDC. The Environmental Health team deal with around 500 noise complaints per year, usually during the summer months, so a new service is now operating from May to September with officers available to respond to noise complaints from 8pm. to midnight on Friday and Saturday nights. The weekend hotline number is 01502 527132. Normal noise complaints during the normal working day can be reported on 01502 562111.

The seafront gardens have won two awards. The RIBA Suffolk craftsmanship awards for the shelter in the Town Hall Garden (this is my favourite garden) was one and the other was in the Regeneration category of the RICS awards for the East of England. Both are very well deserved. The new TIC beach hut opposite the Town Hall is proving very popular and another is planned for the Manning’s end of the promenade.

The gridlock that has been occurring at weekends with traffic accessing Landguard/Martello Park and the Sunday market has been the subject of a lot of discussion in various quarters. It transpires that the timing of the traffic lights at Beach Station Road has not been working properly and

Please mention

this is now being recalibrated to allow more traffic to move through the lights thus reducing the gridlock. Enjoy the sunshine! Doreen Savage

Orwell Decorative & Fine Arts Society At our final meeting of the season on June 1st we heard from Oliver Everett, emeritus librarian at Windsor Castle, all about the great art collector King George IV. The Royal Art Collection owes much to George’s prodigious gathering of fine art, porcelain, gold and silver objects and furniture. George also commissioned the building of the Brighton Pavilion and the re-designing of Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace. It was a wonderful talk with many beautiful illustrations.

The society now has its summer break. Join us back on Weds Sept 7th for a talk on the famous publishers Faber & Faber - its history and design by family member Tony Faber.

We meet at Tower Hall, Broadlands Way, Rushmere St Andrew on the first Wednesday of most months. Lectures last about an hour, are wonderfully illustrated and are presented by national and international lecturers. Guests and non-members are welcome, provided we have available space. A £5 donation is asked. For more info tel. Jean Bradberry on 01473 710921 or email odfasmemsec@ btinternet.com. Visit our website at http://www.orwelldfas. org.uk/ for latest events and news. Colneis Flower Club Our members meetings are intended to be fun with a bit of ‘know how’ thrown in for good measure. This meeting was no exception. It was based on a gift I received from a hotel in Bruges where we were staying last Christmas. Each member was given a small piece of slate, three black medolina sticks, coloured florist wire, a phormium leaf, three leaves, a gerbera, two roses and a large Christmas bauble with the top taken off and the hole enlarged. First, they were shown how to plait the phormium leaf and manipulate the medolina sticks. This caused a lot of laughter as everyone struggled to imitate the original demonstration! These, plus the foliage and flowers were placed in the large bauble which had been glued to the slate. Members then had a raffle followed by tea or coffee and delicious tray bakes provided by the committee. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend but I spoke to a relatively new member whose normal flower arranging, like most of us, is to place a bunch of flowers in a vase. She said that at first she hadn’t wanted to attend because she didn’t ‘do’ flower arranging, only liked to watch it being done. However, a long-standing member persuaded her to go and she said she thoroughly enjoyed it, had learnt how to do a small arrangement, had a lot of fun and

wouldn’t worry about going to the next members evening. So if you would like a fun evening (just watching) why not come to our next demonstration on 21st July when Brenda Tubb from Norfolk will be demonstrating the theme ‘Technicolour Dreamcoat’. The Practice piece is ‘A Design Incorporating Glass’. We meet at 7.30pm in the Old Felixstowe Community Centre, Ferry Road, IP11 9NB.

Lioness Club of Felixstowe

At our regular business meeting at the beginning of May, we were delighted to officially welcome two more Lionesses into the club. Patti and Julia (Honorary) were inducted by President Val and sponsored by Lionesses Sue and Jill respectively. Our membership is now seventeen and it would be great if we could reach twenty by the end of the year! More recently we manned a stall at the Lions’ weekly Car Boot sale; it was a cold and misty morning but we managed to raise some money for our charities and enjoyed bacon butties too. As I write this, we are looking forward to our Charter (Anniversary) Lunch on June 4th, when some of our number will be providing the entertainment. More on this next time… For details of events and information about Lionesses, please email Val: vijinks880@hotmail.com

Felixstowe Waves Swimming Club

Last month Felixstowe Swimming Club competed in the first round of the Summer League at Sudbury, together with teams from Sudbury, Leiston and Stowmarket. The Summer League is for swimmers aged 10 - 14 so many of our swimmers were entering the competition for the first time. The girls achieved a fantastic and very close 3rd place; only one point behind Stowmarket and two behind Sudbury. The boys also performed very well beating all the other teams. When the scores were added up, Felixstowe came 3rd overall, thanks to both coaches and the parents who helped support the swimmers. Twelve of our club swimmers attended the Spring 2 day Open Meet also held in Sudbury. As a whole, the club got some amazing results, gaining 30 personal best times over the weekend. We now have a very busy end of season period of club championship events to be held during

the months of June and July, including both squads and improver group galas. The final presentation evening will be held on Saturday 2nd July at Felixstowe Leisure Centre.

Felixstowe Family History Society If you would like help to start or further your family history research then come and see us at Broadway House (Senior Citizen's Day Care Centre) in Orwell Road, Felixstowe on Thursdays from 10.15am - 12.15pm and we will see if we can point you in the right direction. If you wish to join the society the cost is £10 for a single membership or £14 for a joint membership (living at the same address), and if you join now then membership will run until 31st August 2017. You can join at the research sessions on Thursdays or come along to one of our speaker meetings which are held at Broadway House, Orwell Road, Felixstowe on the 2nd Wednesday of most months starting at 7.30pm. The next meeting (in conjuction with Felixstowe History and Museum Society) is Wednesday 13th July 2016 when the talk will be 'Bonfire and Bells in Medieval Suffolk' with Kate Jewell. Meetings are free to members and £1 for visitors with refreshments available after the talk.

Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) Please note that on Sunday 24 July 2016, Felixstowe Quakers will not be holding a Meeting for Worship at St John Hall Ataka Road Walton at 10.45am. The Gainsborough Club Last month we had a absolutely marvellous evening with the Phoenix Handbell Ringers. This group play in many different venues and are wonderfully skilful. They provided us with an opportunity to participate and, of course, we were brilliant. Seriously it was a wonderful evening and should be throroughly recommended to any group looking for speakers.

Following that we will be having our Summer Sketch Show and Cream Tea on July 5th followed by our charity coffee morning on August 2nd. If you are female and interested in joining us on the first Tuesday of every every month for interesting meetings and excellent company you can ring Mrs Sue Crowe on 01394 4486604.

Being one of Felixstowe’s most trusted local garages, KW Autos been trading for over eight years and is constantly improving their services so their customers come first. Here’s Ken Wells to tell us more... Servicesure Autocentre offers a garage-specific nationwide warranty. The benefit of this is that it enables KW Autos to give their customers a more comprehensive warranty even though they’re not strictly serviced by KW Autos. For example, the garage staff can check and give MOT service follow ups, even if your car was previously serviced by another garage in a different part of the country. There’s a directory of affiliate garages so car owners can have a real sense of assurance with any post-service/repair issues with their vehicle.

The IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry) exists to identify and tackle skills gaps in the industry and sets the bar for getting the right people with the right skills in the right place. And so, all technicians at KW Autos are trained to IMI standards and regularly checked on their skills. KW Autos is also part of the Good Garage Scheme and is a Mobile One Service Centre. This means that if you have a problem with any of your Mobile One products (no matter where you bought them), KW Autos can replace it! KW Autos are also a member of the Motor Industry Codes of Practice who are backed and approved by

Trading Standards. This means that KW Autos are audited regularly to ensure they do exactly what they say they do. This is another string to their bow to give their customers confidence in their services. Alongside all of the above, KW Autos offer all of the usual services: air con, battery services, MOTs, tyres, repairs and much more. Local Charity & Their News

BASIC Life Charity

Since registering as an independent Charitable Trust in 2000, BASIC has been able to assist many groups, organisations and individuals with financial, practical and general support. We are a ‘people’ charity and believe our mission is to support those in need and to provide assistance for those who are otherwise prevented from realising their own charitable goals. Pop-Up Community shop We started our Community Pop-Up Shop at St.Edmunds Church, Langer Road at the beginning of May and we’ve been delighted with the results.

More and more people are coming along – not just to buy the products – but also to enjoy a piece of cake, a hot drink and a chat with others. One of our main aims was to create ‘community’ and it seems that’s happening quicker than we’d hoped. Just to recap on what we do:

We offer a whole range of food which has been donated to us or is close to its expiry or ‘best by’ date. The customer simply buys a carrier bag for £1 (maximum of two) and then, well, simply help themselves to whatever they like! Simple really!

In our first couple of weeks we were sold out in less than thirty minutes and had to restock – so we did some trips around the town to find out who would help us by supplying unsold food which would otherwise go to waste.

OM £849

Morrisons were the supermarket who stepped up to the mark and we’re so pleased to be receiving weekly donations from them

B.M Electric Bikes Bikes from £849

STOP PRESS

There are no rules about who can or cannot come along – so please visit us. We’re open from 11am until 12 noon each Tuesday.

In addition, if you have items in your cupboard you’d like to donate or wish to volunteer please get in touch with us via our contact details below. We believe our idea is unique and we think it would work well in virtually any town or city. If you’d like to know how to set up your own pop-up shop we’d be very happy to share what’s involved. Food Bank

As we’re promoting the pop-up shop this might be a good time to remember that we have run a food bank for over three years now. The food bank differs significantly to the pop-up as customers are referred for food parcels from professional care organisations.

The food bank has been supported by The East of England Co-Op from day one and we are so grateful for the support of Darren Wash and the team. We collect food bank items weekly from the Solar store.

Overall we’re on a bit of a crusade to stop food waste in our town – so if you work for a food store and food is thrown away regularly why not tell the management about our popup shop and food bank? Lost?

Following the closure of Felixstowe Police Station’s front office, we’ve become aware of the real difficulty people are facing with lost property.

We’ve spoken with the local constabulary and have now agreed that we will accept any lost property found locally by taking it to either of our shops. This will hopefully be a valuable community resource and assist those who have lost or found items.

Local Lad Random ramblings by the lovely Dean Wales...

Full ‘o’ Beans at the Allotment

I don’t claim to have particularly green fingers, apart from of course that time I sneezed into an open packet of Dylon (Antique Emerald) and tried to wipe it off my mum’s prized lace antimacassar (I lived at home then) with my bare hands…the antimacassar has been cut down and is used as a pot-stand these days. However, I do give it a good go up at the allotment. And I’ll have you know I’ve been pretty successful at times. For instance I have so many broad beans in my freezer from a harvest three years ago, that two of the bags have been used for first-aid. Once for easing a sprained ankle and the other time for cooling a remarkably brutal gnat bite in our loft-insulator’s groin. Needless to the say the bags have been marked with a Sharpie to prevent the contents making their way into any future vegetarian quesadillas!

For those who may lampoon anyone for tending an allotment, may I just say it’s a truly rewarding experience to cultivate young plants and later enjoy a bumper harvest of nothing less than divine tasting veggies.

It is funny up there at times though. Yes, everyone is friendly and brimming with advice - especially the ‘ole bois’. But there are amusing things, like the ‘swap table’ where people leave items for you to freely take, such as a celeriac someone has refused to eat because it resembles the mother-in-law. You should leave something in return however.

Where my plot (4 Rods – I don’t exactly know what that means but that’s the size I have) is situated, everyone talks to me.

One old fella, upon recognising I had spent some time in the past on stage at the Spa Pavilion insisted on revealing that his ‘Bottom’ was once the envy of Felixstowe’s amateur theatrical circles. It wasn’t until I tried to avoid his dubious tale by returning to pricking out my radishes that I cottoned on that he was talking about the time he appeared in a production of Midsummer Night’s Dream. Oh and I have to reluctantly admit that I’ve earned myself a, let’s say, questionable reputation on the site. I have been caught on the odd occasion tip-toeing through the rows of seedlings whilst watering; teetering as not to get my Kurt Geiger’s muddy. But I suspect the time I was affectionately labelled as the ‘Victoria Beckham’ of the allotment site was when I was spotted running and screaming, my potato dibber in hand, along one of the tracks whilst being chased by a solitary (albeit gargantuan) Billy Witch!

Local Theatre More events from our very own theatre, The Spa Pavilion...

Summer Season in Full Swing at the Spa This month at the Spa Pavilion in Felixstowe there’s no let-up in the entertainment. Kicking off July is Buddy Holly’s Winter Dance Party 80th Anniversary Tour on Sunday 3rd July 2016 7pm. All the music is performed by real musicians in authentic 50's attire on real instruments, and with all the main characters faithfully portrayed. This show, led by ‘Buddy The Musical star’ from London’s West End - Marc Robinson and supported by The Counterfeit Crickets, conclusively proves that the music did not die but lives on and is as vibrant and relevant as ever. Next up we have the Tina Turner Experience – Julie Nevada works her socks off to capture the energy and sound of Tina in full flow on Saturday 9th July 2016, at 7.30pm.

Next there’s not one, not two but three Summer Spectacular shows to entertain you starting this month at the Spa. Magic of the Musicals, Juke Box Memories and Uptown Funk Party – all three shows feature a hugely talented West End cast, supported by local theatre schools. Directed and produced by Suzie Lowe of the Dennis Lowe Theatre Company, all of these shows are a real treat for the whole family to enjoy. Check out www.felixstowespa.co.uk for performance dates and times or call into the Spa Box Office open every day

Please mention

from 11am – 4pm or call them on 01394 284962. The Spa’s Lounge and Terrace Brasserie Bars are now open for dining too with spectacular sea views, so this month why not take the opportunity to enjoy some great live entertainment by the sea.

IITenore & Forest

To Appear on Double Album Release This Summer IlTenore a.k.a Gerry Bremner and Forest a.k.a. Keely Bremner are to feature this summer on a double album release in support of the global charity, Educate The World. IlTenore, a previous Felixstowe’s Got Talent Winner, is one of the UK’s fastest rising solo classical crossover artists and he also performs with the acclaimed classical vocal quartet Quattro Amici. Forest is an emerging new solo artist in London currently completing her final year of a BA(Hons) Creative Musicanship Degree at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM) in London. Both artists have future plans which involve extensive international travel and performance opportunities. Forest will be releasing her inaugural album in the summer called “Origins” which will be a retrospective on her musical influences and beginnings. This will be followed with a further album including some original new music blending Celtic and contemporary influences together. IlTenore will be releasing an EP in the summer called “Nato Per Cantare” (Born To Sing) followed by an album to be released later in the year entitled “Heart, Soul, Spirit”. Both artists have been supporting a charity close to their hearts: Educate The World (UK). Educate the World (UK) was established in 2008, as Primary Education for All, to provide high quality education to the millions of outof-school children around the world who are deprived of education due to financial and other circumstances. This figure currently stands at fifty-nine million and is an issue facing both developed and developing countries.

The tracks for Educate the World (UK) have been produced and recorded at Il Tenore and Forest’s expense with all revenue being donated to the charity. Dean Brockway, CEO of Iradacea Records said, “We are delighted that these two fabulous artists have agreed to support this project. They are both generating significant interest and profile within the Classical Crossover genre within the UK and internationally. We are also thrilled that both IlTenore and Forest will be performing at the Charity’s first ever Gala Dinner to be held at The Runnymede Hotel in Egham, Surrey on Saturday 22nd October.” More information and tickets for the dinner are available from http://www.iridaceaerecords.com/educate-the-worlduk-gala-dinner/.
