BSB Shunyi Unveils New Library The British School of Beijing, Shunyi started off the school year with a new library for its primary school. Construction took place over the summer and converted a large part of the school’s foyer into a library space. Features include custom-built bookshelves, computer banks, and a multi-use reading loft on the mezzanine level. According to Head of Primary Christian Bishop, the main idea behind the plan was to bring active learning to a central point in the school. “Any person entering the school’s main foyer will witness real learning taking place before their eyes as they are met by children engrossed in books, using technology and actively enquiring and learning,” says Bishop. “The tailor-made bookshelves and cosy reading spaces encourage children to pick up a book and build a lifelong love of reading.” September 2013
