ilton is the proud flagship brand of the Hilton Hotels Corporation and the most recognized name in the global lodging industry. Conrad Hilton purchased his first hotel in Cisco, Texas back in 1919. Since that time, the corporation has grown to include hundreds of hotels and thousands of rooms all over the world.

Hilton Kuwait Resort

The Hilton Kuwait Resort boasts 2 pools, a well-equipped health club, tennis courts, a spa and lets its visitors experience the sunkissed Arabian Gulf from its mile of private beach. The hotel is also fully equipped for business clients with eight meeting rooms, a ballroom for up to 1,250 people, a wellequipped business centre and wireless internet access throughout the hotel.

Pre-existing situation

At the time the state-of-the-art Hilton

Kuwait Resort was built, it was critical that the entire hotel and all of its facilities and areas would meet a high level of privacy and security. One of the most important aspects of modern day security and life safety is the fire detection system. Keeping this in mind, the hotel’s security director tendered the market, looking for a high end fire detection system which would protect their assets, and more importantly their guests and staff to the fullest. SHBC, a local partner in fire detection of UTC Fire & Security, was awarded with this prestigious project due to the quality of its solution and excellent reputation

UTC Fire & Security’s solution

SHBC provided the Hilton Kuwait Resort with UTC Fire and Security’s highend EST fire detection platform. With a proven track record across a wide range of

prestigious projects throughout the world, the EST3 panel is able to meet and exceed every one of the Hilton’s requirements. Having more than 8,000 addressable fire detection devices deployed throughout the hotel complex, virtually every threat can be detected at an early stage. Ten EST3 control panels manage this massive amount of devices and make sure that signals are processed correctly between device, panel and control room. In the control room, the FireWorks management software with graphical user interface and mimic panel is used, showing a detailed map of every detection point throughout the hotel and thus enabling security staff to pinpoint exactly when and where a threat occurs. Having this information, it becomes highly efficient to maintain the system and in the case of an emergency take the required actions. 75
