Globally Tyco has implemented PSIM projects for critical infrastructure at Airports, Ports and Transportation Systems, and in Corporate Facilities. In fact our brand Proximex is the world leader with its Surveillint range of solutions implemented in hundreds of installations across North America, EMEA and Asia Pacific. With the growing threat of terrorism, there’s a definite need for PSIM in Civil and Defense establishments, in Government and Public Assembly facilities or City Centers. ‘Safe Cities and Smart Cities’ announced by the Government will involve the use of thousands of cameras, intrusion sensors, communication devices and other security 56
equipment like access control, fire protection, over a wide area in hundreds of buildings --- these cities need PSIMs to mitigate security risks, ensure event response processes and track subjects. Tyco is also getting expressions of interest from hospitals and educational institutions with enterprise campus environments.
LATEST INNOVATIONS There are several innovations taking place in the ecosystem. These will, over time, drive up the adoption of PSIM. Evolution of standards which promote interoperability among devices would simplify system integration.
ONVIF and PSIA have been working to enhance the standardization of access control. This would also help protect and future proof investments for the enterprises. Then there are innovations geared towards making systems even more powerful with actionable intelligence, speed security incident resolution. Some examples are features like business logic, escalation to higher ups until remedial action is taken, step by step guidance to deal with the emergency, auto-generated responses , work flow management and multiple client.
