Omar Borkan Al Gala, the famous model, who says he was deported from Saudi Arabia, made his muchanticipated public appearance at East z East restaurant, Blackfriars Street in Manchester on Thursday 3rd October. With his dreamy eyes and chiselled looks, 23-year-old Omar’s story captured headlines across the world turning the model and photographer into a global online sensation, with more than 1.3 million fans on Facebook. With ladies falling over themselves to get a picture of the model, it seemed that his fans are not only the girlies, a few ‘well-groomed’ males also joined in the oogling, including Maz of Bonafide and
Metz & Trix! Organisers of the model’s tour in Manchester, Farheen Hussain and Ashi Asma, said that being acutely aware of the large fanbase he has across Yorkshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester, they were keen to be involved. A spokesperson for East Z East said: “It was great to have Omar here at the restaurant, and delighted that Omar showed patience in enabling so many people to have their pictures taken with him.” Omar hit headlines, when he was “allegedly”, ejected from the Jenadrivah Heritage and Culture Festival in Riyadh
by the religious police, for fear that women would fall for him. Now living in Vancouver, Omar has become a worldwide sensation. Now, it seems that his story about being deported may have been fake. When Asian Express probed Omar on the matter of his deportation from Saudi Arabia, the model wouldn’t confirm that the news of him being forcibly ejected from the festival was true. Nevertheless, as a one-man publicity machine, Omar has been putting his newly-found fame to good use with celebrity endorsements, PAs, magazine photo-shoots and fashion shows all across the world.
