Carcass Performance Partners 15th Annual Sale I want to welcome you to our 15th Annual Carcass Performance Partners sale in Lucedale Ms. I’m very excited about our group of bulls and females this year. They are bigger, better, and offer more performance than any group yet. Bigger because we have a few more older 2-yr-old bulls, better because the numbers(EPDs) are higher and the bulls look better. Phenotype is important and you our customers sell your calves some order buyer and feeder is looking at them and determining a price based on the market that day. High performance is bred in, not fed in, and must come from the AI sires we use and the cow herds involved. Our breeders and consignors do just that and bring the best to Lucedale on March 11, 2017 for your inspection and analysis. We have some new consignors too. I’d like you to help me welcome Fenton Farms of Ellisville and 3M Simmentals of Leakesville to the CPP bull sale this year. They have bought and sold females before but this is their first time to be a part of the Partners bull sale. We all feed the bulls a high roughage diet so they won’t fall off so bad after you get them home. The bulls are growing too so take care with the yearling bulls and keep them growing until the are mature. You will get another year or 2 out of them with the proper care of a young bull. Its hard to believe its our 15th year but it is! I want to thank all our customers in the past and the repeat customers that bought each year-there are many! It’s a harvest time for us as breeders as we offer you our blessings God has so bountifully blessed each of us with. It takes 3 years from breeding the dam until selling the bull at Lucedale so we spend a lot of time and effort in 3 years making sure we bring our best! AR4 is out of the former 7L program in Wiggins, MS. She was one of several embryos that I purchased from them and a flush mate to Rockhill SFG Mr Comfort, who was the top selling bull at the CPP 2014 sale. She is a young cow that is moderate framed and has excellent Marbling, API and TI numbers. Her sire GW Comfort Zone 651Y is an ABS stud and her dam was an outstanding cow in the 7L herd. She has a late spring heifer calf at her side and was moved to the fall calving herd to tighten up my calving windows in the herd. She has been exposed and was observed bred to a stout J Bar J Nightride 225Z son (reg. # 2854318) on 12/8/16. The heifer calf at side was born on 6/4/16 and is sired by her flush mate Rockhill SFG Mr Comfort. The breeding wasn’t intentional, but I have been impressed with the results. The heifer is 1/2 SM 1/2 AN.

Peggy B31 is a young moderate framed cow with her first calf at side. She is out of one of my better Angus cows and is sired by 7L-GW Prem Beef 538Y. Peggy calved at 21 months and has done a good job with her calf with no creep feed for the calf or her. She will develop into a good cow as she matures. ROCKY HOLLOW FARMS At Rocky Hollow Farm, we have focused our program on raising quality purebred Simmentals. We purchased our first Simmental 21 years ago and have been extremely satisfied with the performance and disposition of the breed. We raise and market purebred and percentage replacement heifers and purebred Simmental and SimAngus bulls. In the last couple of years we have been producing SimAngus HT (Heat Tolerant) heifers and bulls. These seem to work great in the south. The combination of British, continental and a touch of Brahman makes the three way cross a real winner. Our herd program targets commercial cattlemen by providing bulls and heifers that have calving ease, fleshing ability, good dispositions and affordable to purchase. We use artificial insemination on 90% of the cows. This method of breeding allows us to use bulls that are proven sires and trait leaders. We have concentrated on traits that we know commercial cattlemen consider important to their bottom line. Calving ease, to make sure you get a live calf without problems. Weaning weights, to give you those extra pounds on the scale at sale time. Disposition, because no one wants to deal with crazy cows and bulls. Our herd has been certified brucellosis free and our health program includes weighing, vaccinating and worming each calf on a set schedule. There are several reasons we have joined Carcass Performance Partners to market bulls. We are a family farm and we wanted to consolidate marketing efforts with others to build a solid strategy for selling our best animals. We believe that you should stand behind the product you sell. SLEEPY CREEK FARMS Sleepy Creek Farms was stablished in 1997 and was principally a muscadine producer for small regional wineries. We maintained our vineyard and migrated from commercial cattle into SimAngusTM cattle as our extended family shifted out of dairy and chicken farming. By 2013 we registered the 3rd most new ASA animals in Mississippi. Although new to Simmental scene in Mississippi we are building a strong package of basic Simmental, Angus, and outcross genetics. We are looking for well-rounded animals that exhibit phenotypes that match their genetics. Our goal is to create a sound basic herd that will produce seedstock regional cattlemen will appreciate. In pursuing that goal we are using the top American Simmental Association and American Angus Association AI sires.
FENTON FARMS Fenton Farms is located in Ellisville, MS, which is just a few miles southwest of Laurel. With only 4 ½ years, we consider ourselves young to the cattle industry, but are growing at a rapid pace. The herd size is at 125 head and growing. Recently we have started an embryo transplant program of Simmental and Simangus genetics. We are currently trying to put in 80-100 embryos a year and are calving in the fall and spring. We are using our new bulls 3MS Apache A97, 5TCC Jack Sparrow 4023, SS FFS High Cotton, SSC Shell Shocked 44B and TKCC Certified 7C to clean-up.
