Da Kecskemét un’idea per Urbania
In Ungheria un centro di incontro e scambio culturale per ceramisti di tutto il mondo è l’esempio di una stimolante realtà di cui in Italia si avverte la mancanza.

qui accanto sono state eseguite dal mio assistente, dottor Claudio Paolinelli, lo scorso mese di novembre a Kecskemét, all’International Ceramics Studio. Nella mia missione in Ungheria, volta allo studio per il catalogo e la mostra della maiolica italiana al Museo delle Arti Applicate di Budapest e per organizzare a Pesaro una mostra delle ceramiche del tempo del re Matteo Corvino ritrovate negli scavi al Castello di Buda, ho chiesto di conoscere il centro di Kecskemét. Esso permette a ceramisti di tutto il mondo di confrontarsi, di ritrovarsi insieme in una specie di villaggio globale, molto ben attrezzato per la libera ideazione, realizzazione e produzione di ceramiche d’arte. Vi abbiamo incontrato ceramisti statunitensi, finlandesi, ungheresi, inglesi, ed era già tempo d’inizio inverno. Paul Soldner era appena partito. Attrezzato per accogliere artisti di tutto il mondo, organizzato per simposii di carattere tecnologico e artistico, l’International Ceramics Studio è anche centro espositivo, museale, di vendita delle opere eseguitevi dagli artisti. Se ne vorrebbe uno analogo anche in Italia, ma da noi è così difficile proporlo, per la nostra tipica mentalità individualista: mentre ce ne sono un po’ dappertutto nel mondo da Occidente ad Oriente. Ne vado proponendo uno io al Barco Ducale di Urbania, l’antica Casteldurante, in fase di grandi opere di restauro. Spero che l’idea si faccia strada.

In Hungary, a centre acting as a meeting ground for ceramists coming from all over the world affords them the opportunity of exchanging ideas. Italy lacks a similar structure. On my mission to Hungary I asked to visit Kecskemét’s centre. The purpose of my mission was to study the catalogue and the exhibition of Italian majolicas on display at the Museum of Applied Arts in Budapest and to organize an exhibition in Pesaro of ornamental china dating from King Matteo Corvino’ age that was found during the excavation work of Buda’s Castle. The centre presents ceramists coming from all over the world with
the opportunity of exchanging ideas in a kind of global and fully equipped village, allowing them to design and produce ceramics in total freedom. The International Ceramics Studio is fitted to assist artists from around the world. It also hosts technology and art symposiums while also acting as an exhibition centre, as a museum and as a shop selling the works created by the artists. Similar centres can be found a bit everywhere around the world. I have submitted the same idea in Italy at Barco Ducale, Urbania, the ancient Casteldurante, which is currently undergoing large-scale renovation work. However, our typically individualistic mentality is a hindrance to the implementation of this type of project. I hope that the idea will gain ground.
