“ConCRETAmagia” Magic in Clay
New creative proposals have brought new life to the 2nd “Triennale Internazionale della Ceramica d’Autore” (International Triennial of Artistic Ceramics), held at the National Atestino Museum, in the city of Este. This event, that has now become triennial, is a rare and I would say successful example of collaboration among designers and workers, crafts shops, art and workshop schools and ceramics artists who have lent their skilled hands and their studiolaboratories, so that Este can re-launch its qualities and its capacities and find new stimuli and ideas to produce contemporary artworks. With considerable effort, twenty-one works were realized, some of which very demanding and highly complex, and four others were made directly by the artists. This Show also includes a group of young people selected by the Competition “Con Arte, per Gioco” (With Art, for Fun), for European art and design schools, an additional element of stimulus and faith for the project culture and aesthetic renewal, always, however, with the awareness of its ancient roots and traditions. Este must hold on to its proud heritage and continue to justly call itself the “Città della Ceramica” (“The City of Ceramics”), it must have faith in the continuity of its local production, which, however, must learn, observe with an open mind these artists who have supported us with their works; local enterprises must understand the need to renew themselves through culture and ideas, to open, in this way, new and more up-to-date market spaces.
