Artigianarte in Japan
Since the month of June 2004 till the end of 2005, in the new Gallery of Kyoto Traditional Arts & Crafts, thanks to the project promoted by the Craftsmanship Head Office of the Lombardy Region and Lombardy Unioncamere, carried out by MIA-Exhibitions Board of Monza and Brianza and TASK – Traditional Arts School of Kyoto, the Lombard craftsmen-artists can have a prestigious showcase inside the Japanese market which has so far provided the artisan enterprises with new commercial opportunities. To the Japanese people the “heart” of their nation is the ancient capital Kyoto, which represents the temperament and the traditions of the whole nation. The craftsmanship of the Prefecture of Kyoto has a very old history, which bring nearer Region of Kyoto and Lombardy, the Italian region with the best artistic craftsmanship present on the international markets.
Inside the Gallery of Kyoto Traditional Arts & Crafts an area will be dedicated to the Lombard artisan masters with their ceramic, wood, fabric, silver, metal, glass, stone, etc. production and is planned the sending of two or three craftsmen’s products every six weeks throughout a five week exposition. The project will be realized with the brand Artigianarte, which MIA for years has been engaged to divulge all over the world for underlining the historical, cultural and commercial value of the object within the artistic craftsmanship. For this purpose has been created the site www.kyotoartigianarte.com where can be found the news concerning the project and the information about all the firms participating with the exposed pieces. In the project of cultural-technicaleconomic exchange between Japan and Italy, recently and on the occasion of different events, participated artisan masters from the Kinki Region in Italy. Now, in the new expositive centre
of Kyoto, inaugurated this year with an exhibition dedicated to the Lombard artistic craftsmanship there will be thematic exhibitions dedicated to design and the artistic craftsmanship of the Italian regions. The title of this great event is “Italy – Design and artistic craftsmanship 2004-2005” also this organized and coordinated by the Gallery of Kyoto Traditional Arts & Crafts. The first exhibition, within “Italy – Design and artistic craftsmanship”, is of the Autonomous Province of Trento and has as title “The young talk of design and local craftsmanship – Works of the artisan masters and craftsmanship’s projects”. Promoted by the Trento Institutes of Arts “A. Vittoria” and “F.A. Bomporti”, it was born following the dictates of design and creativity and it is an occasion of exchange of artisan projectuality between a specific culture like Trento’s and the millennial Japanese experience.
