—¿Qué situaciones te interesa retratar? ¿Cuáles llaman más tu atención? —Una obra de arte debería ser la expresión visual del cultivo propio de un artista. Además de transmitir las impresiones visuales directas de las personas y las escenas alrededor de él, el arte también expresa las aspiraciones humanísticas y espirituales del artista, elevando una obra de arte realista a un nivel que trasciende el nivel puramente concreto de la autoexpresión. —What situations are you interested in portraying? Which ones catch your attention the most? —“A work of art should be the visual expression of an artist’s selfcultivation. Art transmits the direct visual impressions of people and of the scenes around them; it also expresses the humanistic and spiritual aspirations of the artist, elevating a realistic work of art to a level, which transcends the pure concrete level of self-expression. Las personas que viven en la naturaleza han mantenido una forma de vida más pura y armónica con lo que los rodea. Mantienen una actitud tranquila y abierta hacia la vida, sus corazones son simples, generosos”, piensa Xie Dongming sobre los paisajes y personajes que inspiran su trazo al óleo. Nació en Beijing, se graduó de Pintura al Óleo del Department of Central Academy of Fine Arts de esa ciudad, y hoy es uno de los artistas chinos más cotizados. “Disfruto retratando esas escenas y a esas personas porque la brocha rescata la forma en que yo entiendo la vida”, dice el pintor. Con esa inspiración, Xie habla de la libertad y la existencia en una humanidad en constante progreso.
“People who live surrounded by nature have maintained a purer and more harmonic way of life with everything that surrounds them. They keep an open and peaceful attitude towards life, their hearts are simple, generous”, thinks Xie Dongming about the landscapes and characters that inspire his oil painting strokes. Born in Beijing, he graduated in Oil Painting at the Department of Central Academy of Fine Arts of that city; nowadays he is one of the most sought after artists in China. “I enjoy portraying those scenes and those people because the brush rescues the form in which I understand life”, says the painter. With such inspiration, Xie talks about liberty and the existence in humanity, which is in constant progress.
