Avignon Jam Session AVIGNON JAM SESSION - BIKE PARTY Grosse ambiance sur le Park de l’Ile Piot le 27 Mai dernier pour la 8e édition de la Jam Session. Cette année, le thème était « la bike party Monster Energy » avec en plus du Park, un contest d’Air Bag et une soirée «Ride&Dubstep» animé par Yohan Thunder. L’Air Bag, cet énorme coussin gonflable aura pour sa première apparition sur l’île Piot connu un véritable succès puisqu’il y avait tellement de participants que les organisateurs ont dû limité la compétition sur cet airbag à 2 passages afin de sacrer le BMXer Gaël Robert. Le même Gaël Robert (EIGHTYFOUR, BASIC BMX, SHARKS) qui après avoir terminé dans les 5 riders du FISE de Montpellier la semaine d’avant sur le Big Air et devant près de 40 000 spectateurs a également remporté le Park en BMX Pro, avec un gros front flip et un riding très fluide sur tout le park. Le second dans cette catégorie Pro n’est autre que Morien Quentin (BASIC BMX, SHARKS) qui a démonté la box à coup de superman seat grab, double whip et autres gros tricks parfaitement exécutés. Julien Bertheau l’avignonnais conclura ce trio de tête avec un riding très technique, 180 fackie bus to bus sur le volcano et un beau flair, malgré de nombreuses chutes dans ces runs. Chez les Amateurs, Mr Verboom d’un niveau de Pro a renversé le park par ces tricks, suivi de Guedes et Masset, du riding smooth comme on aime bien voir… À noter la grosse participation de l’association BASIC BMX venue spécialement de Montpellier avec une dixaine de riders, menée par Simon Uguen et Corentin. Au total, de 9h à 18h, ce sont 90 jeunes riders qui auront régalé les nombreux spectateurs présents et prouver, s’il était encore nécessaire de le prouver, que même coincé entre des villes très développées dans les sports de glisse comme Marseille ou Montpellier, Avignon a aussi ses acteurs et son public dans cette pratique qu’aiment tant les jeunes. It was rocking on the Park de l’Ile Piot this 27th of May for the 8th edition of the Jam Session. This year, the theme was “The Monster Energy bike party” with as well as Park, an Air Bag contest and a “Ride and Dub” party, animated by Yohan Thunder. It was the first time we’d seen the Air Bag here on the Piot Island, this giant blow up pillow, and it was a huge success. Being as there were so many participants, the organizers had to limit the competition on the air bed to two go’s each in order to consecrate time to the BMXer Gael Robert. The same Gael Robert (EIGHTYFOUR, BASIC BMX, SHARKS) who, after having finished amongst the 5 best riders of the FISE in Montpellier the week before on the Big Air in front of almost 40 000 people, also won Park in BMX Pro, with a big front flip and his smooth riding on the park. Second in this Pro category, the amazing Morien Quentin (BASIC BMX, SHARKS) who rocked the box with his superman seat grabs, double whips and other perfectly placed tricks. Yeah! Julien Bertheau from Avignon was the third of this trio with very technical riding, 180 fackie to bus on the volcano and a hot flair, even though he did fall quite a few times on the runs. On the amateur side, Mr Verboom rode with a Pro level, and killed the park with his tricks, followed by Guedes and Masset, smooth riding as we like to see... Note the large participation from the association BASIC BMX, who came specially from Montpellier with ten riders led by Simon Uguen and Corentin. All together, 90 young riders strutted their stuff in front of the large audience from 9am to 6pm and proved once again that even stuck between urbanized towns that are highly developed in Freestyle sports, such as Marseille or Montpellier, Avignon can sure hold their own in this sport.
