Le samedi, jour des qualifs, tout le monde est prêt à en découdre avec la piste et nous voilà donc divisés en 4 groupes. L’avantage d’un spot comme celui-ci , est qu’il offre la chance à tout type de riding de se démarquer. Que l’on soit un maître du gros tricks, un technicien ou bien un rider tout en style, on peut s’offrir les faveurs des juges. À l’issue de cette journée, 16 riders passeront aux phases finales du lendemain. Le dimanche et donc jour des finales, un large public venu en nombre vient encourager les riders désireux d’accéder à la super finale où seules 4 personnes y seront conviées. Finalement et en 4ème position, on retrouvera Mike Hucker Clark toujours aussi stylé et généreux avec le public. La troisième marche du podium sera pour Drew Bezancon qui, malgré un week end hors normes, ne pourra réaliser l’exploit de l’emporter. En seconde position, Ryan Nyquist qui, une fois de plus, a prouvé qu’il était présent et bien présent avec des tricks dont seul lui a le secret ! Enfin et avec un week end sans fautes, Ben Wallace a remporté les qualifications et enfin la finale. Ben a su mettre tout le monde d’accord en mixant style, tricks et amplitude. Des runs parfaits qui laissent présager une saison incroyable pour le jeune rider anglais ! L’Empire of dirt se termine bien entendu avec une soirée au top où tous les riders célèbrent un évènement mené de main de maître. Je tenais à remercier Kye et son équipe, et bien entendu, tous ses partenaires pour nous avoir offert une fois de plus un moment incroyable et on espère revoir l’Empire of dirt en 2013 avec encore plus de surprises !
Saturday, time for the qualifications, everyone got ready to go for it. We were divided into 4 groups. The good thing about this kind of spot is that it allows any kind of rider to show what he’s got. Whether he’s a master of big tricks, more technical or a rider who has style, anyone’s welcome to express themselves in front of these judges. Throughout the day, 16 riders went through to the next round, which was to be held the next day. Sunday, day of the finals, a large enthusiastic audience had gathered to encourage the riders, all who wanted to go through to the super final. There were only 4 places to be had. Finally, in 4th position, Mike Hucker Clark came in, still as stylish as ever and very generous with the public. The 3rd step of the podium was for Drew Bezancon who, dispite a fantastic weekend couldn’t quite manage to do what it took to win. In second position Ryan Nyquist who once again proved to us that he was still in the game, placing tricks that only he knows how to do ! Last but not least, after giving his very best all weekend, Ben Wallace won the qualifications and the final. Ben was a favorite from the start, with an amazing panache of style, tricks and amplitude : his perfect runs showed that this young english rider has an incredible season lined up ahead of him this year. The Empire of Dirt therefore finished with a huge party, where all the riders raised a glass to this amazing event. I’d like to thank Kye and his crew and of course their partners for giving us once again the opportunity to have a fantastic time and we hope to see Empire of Dirt in 2013 with even more surprises !
